I thought it would do around 150 personally, they are barely names and they didn't have big name opponents. Honestly it shouldn't have been PPV, probably gets 3x the views free on ESPN or a similar level of exposure.
Spot on. For me personally, it was an insult that they were asking Mayweather PPV prices for two mediocre fighters (in the grand scheme of things).

That's not bad imo. That means they will probably be back on ppv.

The bar has been set really low now with these PBC PPVs😂 apparently barely selling over 100k is now considered a success.

We all know this is worded to paint the numbers favorably. Is expected to generate 100k buys... code for they're at sub 100k and they're praying for a miracle. GGG outsold the Charlo bros!

Yeah but those secret Haymon checks are proper reserves when the business makes sense. Networks weren’t paying premium for the fights so Haymon would be losing money while the budget needs to last for more fighters.

The Jacobs GGG fight did close to $4mil live gate. It also had one Defense by Chocolatito and the main Event.

This card had 5 Championship fights if im not mistaken and Showtime still didn’t want it on regular showing, which in my opinion would’ve brought in more subs and good ratings.

The problem is the “experience” many fans had with this fight with a 40min podcast style intermission.

Whoever bought the PPV might have wanted Jermall to get the KO. It was a defense against a guy who lost to Jacobs and GGG. Then Jermell Charlo’s weird body... are these same buyers going to drop another $75 if they’re not big names? We see the numbers. I suspect 115K for 5 Championship fights; 2 Main cards.

Pretty much what I got out of the article as well but I guess you can say it was a success for PBC in that they put on a card and didn't lose money if the buys are to be believed. I understand that some of these matches will need to be on ppv to cover the purse guarantees of fighters but at the same time I'm not going to be fleeced into paying $80 for every single mediocre fight when it does.

Boxing needs to avoid going head to head with UFC which last time I checked was trending towards 700,000+ PPV Buys for Adasanya vs Costa confirming that yes UFC is more popular in America Right and boxing can't AFFORD to go head to head with UFC. Smart moving Tank off that date instead of going head to head with that stacked UFC Card Headlined by Khabib

Charlo Brothers should continue to come as a Package and rotate who close the show but they can build on those numbers easily. The PPV Created a BUZZ for them that can carry over to their next event and that is really all you can ask for after your very 1st PPV. Next Event grab some opponents who will talk trash with them and help sell the PPV
Avoid competing with UFC? Wow it hurts to hear this one

UFC is a commercial product. Street fighting aesthetics have more appeal to casuals for obvious and realistic reasons.

PPV popularity could have been transferred from Boxing to UFC because to Mayweather-Mcgregor
