After getting into UFC, boxing has become so boring

  • Make one organisation with on champ in each weight division in boxing, and nobody will even watch UFC.

Boxing still has much bigger potential. Just, there are too many interests involved.

Young people sway to whatever the new fad is, that is why? Soon as UFC fights are made they are forgotten 'This generation you are speaking of, are the microwavable age' In 30 years time they will not be reminiscing, some of them may not even be UFC fans 'They may have wondered elsewhere'.

All those fights you have mentioned did not have the cultural impact that boxing biggest fights had 'No UFC fights have really stood the test of time, their legacies quite simply vanish'.

When you say "worldwide" you're basically talking about Germany and Ukraine. Even in the UK nobody gave a **** about Wlad outside of the Joshua/Haye/Fury fights which we're spread out across 6 years. Brock is a bigger star both in America and internationally thanks to the combined exposure he got from the UFC and WWE. The fact Wlad was fighting in Germany constantly and wasnt on PPV should tell you something. Who the **** fights in Germany (and Switzerland for gods sake!) for years on end if they're a big global star? how can you call Wlad a bigger star when during his reign Brock was main eventing expensive PPVs in the no1 sports market on the planet breaking a million buys four times in a row within the space of two years?

"Respected" is an different argument. You're comparing a guy that dominated HW boxing for around a decade to a guy who made two successful title defences (barely scraping through one by the skin of his teeth) before being stopped in the first round twice in a row and leaving the sport. Its not a like for like comparison.

And while this is happening we will still be waiting for AJ/Fury and Spence/Crawford.

The "fad" started closing the gap with boxing like 15 years ago, and has been on roughly even footing for around a decade. It aint exactly a ****ing fidget spinner is it? its well entrenched into the sports world now and here to stay.

Canelo/GGG and Fury/Wilder did not have any more of a cultural impact than Conors fights, that is the situation in the here and now rather than the 1970s. And plenty of MMA fights have stood the test of time, they just dont get romanticized as hard because most of the big ones have happened within the last 10-15 years and there isnt the same "things were better back in the day" attitude that the boxing fanbase often has.

This is it for the UFC, it had its peak 10 years ago. It is not really going to get any bigger 'Because society has changed'. People attitudes towards combat sports has complete changed, that is why the UFC has to be promoted like the WWE, and the presenters/commentators have to behave overly dramatic 'Like bloons'.

I predict the actual UFC, will destroy itself from the inside out. There is no place for dictatorships in sports as we progress into the future 'Mixed Martial Arts will survive, but I honestly think the UFC will implode'.

Conor Mcgregor has gone mate, retired. Nobody talks about his fights or is reminiscing about them 'UFC fight legacies quite simple vanish soon as they happen'.

I am not one of these people who are adverse to the UFC, but it is not swallowing boxing.

What boxing matches are people supposedly reminiscing about then? and who are the people doing the reminiscing exactly? I would expect boxing fans reminsice about boxing matches, MMA fans reminisce about MMA fights and people that dont follow combat sports at all dont think about either.

Conor is 32 years old, and will almost certainly come back. Ronda probably will too. Even without them Stipe/DC just did 500k buys on PPV a week ago, Usman/Jorge about a month ago did 1.3m, Ferg/Gaethje in May did 700k etc. (I suppose none of these fights will have the long lasting cultural impact of Joe Smith jr vs Eleider Alvarez, Porter/Formella and Whyte/Povetkin though.....)

Its already on equal footing with boxing nowadays even if it doesnt grow at all anymore.

People do actually say these things, but they're generally the most mentally deficient posters we have on here.
I can watch some of the MMA guys but it's a very difficult sport to watch.

                • What fights are people missing?

Pick a fight from Israel Vasquez vs Rafael Marquez.

Any fight from Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez

                  Any Ali vs Frazier fight.

Any Sugar Ray Robinson fight vs a top fighter.

Any Leonard, Duran, hearns, Hayley fight vs.

Gatti ve Ward 1, Castillo vs corrales

Only person I see still mentioned is Silva and he’s supposed to be some cheat?

MMA at its best doesn’t compare to boxing at its best bottom line and this thread has not stopped being ridiculous and terrible.

Boxing ain’t boring, boxing message boards and it’s haters are.

How often is boxing actually at its best though?

                    • I will always be Boxing #1 until I die. I have no interest in mma or ufc at all. No disrespect to it but honestly speaking it does not even compare to boxing. Boxing is far far more popular imo on a global scale. To each their own but I am a hardcore boxing head through and through.

I think the main problem with boxing exists in boxing itself and none of the outside forces hurt the sport as much as the promoters doing sabotaging fights. Another thing that I also think is mma is built on very unsteady foundation. ufc is what almost everyone thinks when they think mma and that organization has A TON of problems with fighter pay being the biggest issue which I think is going to really damage the sport in the years to come. I also think post career a lot of their stars (like in boxing) are going to show the very damaging and negative side of living the life as a fighter.
