Lopez's whole name is built on him calling out Loma.

Bro... I see the chit regularly but not on that level, not even close. An ace left handed Dominican pitcher in Japan makes my wife’s salary. He’s more than proven himself. He’s honoring his contract and will get millions in 17 moths, and he’s being scouted by major league teams. He’s young, talented, and a solid family man.Comment

Yep. I mean even new fans know that arguing over money is part of boxing at its core. Almost every top level “opponent” holds out for more money. Nobody on either side expects the first couple offers to be accepted or that it’s the “final offer” regardless of what gets said. It’s hard to throw away all the buzz and hype generated over a fight, to end up with a cheaper opponent that hasent had any build. Rarely happens. Fans get mad, they also blame both sides. The opponent usually gets paid more in the end, or they get sum sort of rights to his next few fights. Rematch clauses etc. I was so stoked to hear a young lion like Teo fighting a p4p like Loma, but I’ll believe it when the bell rings. If Teo said “eff it, I’ll take the purse even though I know I’m worth more, just to get my shot” that would be too good to be true. He would instantly be so many peoples favourite fighter, cause that never happens. If he won, damn that would make him a legend right away. But if he lost a real close one or got screwed, then it would just point out why that time of thing is so rare. I expect Teo to get a pay bump or some sort of sweetner. Is there better options? Course everything’s a bit different now, so what do I know?True
A persons own perspective may lead them down the long road. Not necessarily the wrong road.
A guy in his position will find out if he can command the money he's commanding.
Pride tends to muck up many a situation.
Ask for more and the worst that can happen is they say take it or leave it.Comment

My bro the big Dunn providing truth and direction. While I understand your point in general, You are making a classic mistake in your analysis.
Unknown isn’t the same as drawing power. He draws more fans to msg than Loma does. He is from the ny area and has a huge following in the Latin community.
His compensation should reflect that, right?
I’m not saying it should be a 50/50 split but he is a champion in his own right. if you feel champs should get more, the split should be a little better than 75/25 right?
Thanks. How are you? Stay safe!Comment

I think fans know new guys should slow their role when they are fighting the man in a div. Public perception should be taken into account as well. It doesn't bode well if a guy is going to go public with their displeasure. What he means and how it comes off might taken totally out of context.Yep. If a guy has a promoter, let them do the talking/negotiating. That's why you pay them.Comment

Actually I take my original statement back...he does have leverage! It is a fight ESPN been building up and it is literally the only big in house fight they have so they will have no choice but to give him what he wants or no fight
He does have a Belt!
Not only that but nobody can force Unification! He doesn't have to fight Loma right now, he can walk away from Unification right now and take a Voluntary Defense and wait for the IBF or order him to fight George Kambosos Jr. or Lee Selby who are currently #3 and #4 by the IBF with #1 and #2 Vacant
So YES Lopez does have some leverage here. With that being said, no sure he this will sit with Arum and Top Rank long term. They will likely pay him but if he lose they might completely Bury this Kid and make him pay for thisComment

I just think the new wave for almost every aspect of society is people spouting off their displeasure. It’s all publicity. Just spell my name right. Social media rules all. YouTube one day, vines the next, now tik tok, Twitter, whatever’s next will just have a different name. Its not like these things are different, it’s just “cool” to be on the latest thing. It’s practically a crime to not voice your opinion on every little thing nowadays. I agree with you full heartedly, the grass roots fans are sick of this model but they know they have our money already. They will always promote to get all the fringe, casual, younger fans. That means running your mouth causing beefs and drama. I told my brother it would be cool if they actually put a decent real boxing undercard on the Roy v Tyson exhibition out of respect to the old fans who supported these guys in their prime. ( I could care less about the exhibition to be honest ) My brother laughed and said they will probably put a Paul brother on it. Course he was right. No one cares what we think anymore. Fans would have to unionize lolI think fans know new guys should slow their role when they are fighting the man in a div. Public perception should be taken into account as well. The bold: Hopefully he has the option to buy out. Lopez is marketable and will be a good investment for other promoters. He should say FU to Arum before that happens.Actually I take my original statement back...he does have leverage! Too right about this look at me, notice me society. I am thisclose to swearing off of NFL due to every fuc king guy celebrating every fuc king little thing. Jumping around like straight up fools.
Anyway, this can be a learning curve for the kid. The fight will most likely happen and if not, he will be looked at in a different, unflattering light.
3 for Loma, 1 for him....not bad.Comment
