But David Diaz beating a shot Erik Morales who had lost 4 of his last 5 fights didn't make him some big draw.
He was still a bigger draw than Nate Campbell.

The Morales name still carried weight with casuals.

    You’ve answered your own question...

I'm not convinced that this is necessarily the case. Diaz was certainly not comparable at all to the big name Gatti had at the time of the Floyd fight.

He was still a bigger name than Nate Campbell though. That’s the definitive point.

How can you prove that? They threw David Diaz on a PPV against a shot Erik Morales, but did more people watch that than watched Nate Campbell vs Baby Bull on HBO Championship Boxing?

Not to mention the other times Campbell was featured on HBO?

Who was really more known to casuals?

Campbell was barely featured on HBO prior to Baby Bull. He was fighting on ESPN or was just on undercards. Even the Guzman fight was going to be on a Tim Bradley undercard on Showtime. Campbell was the B side to guys like Robbie Peden...

Diaz headlined a HBO PPV and has appeared on several PPV cards. He was clearly a bigger name than Nate Campbell.

Just let it go man, this thread has failed miserably.

Pac never intended to fight Nate Campbell or Juan Diaz.

David Diaz was promised a fight vs Pac BEFORE his fight with Montano on the undercard of the second JMM vs Pac fight. All he had to do was win, which he did by majority decision.

All this speculation about Campbell being unavailable due to a fight with Guzman is also nonsense- Campbell had just won the title and was allowed a non-mandatory defense.

Pac chose David Diaz instead of tougher competition against Campbell, who held unified titles.

              Period.

The PPV was headlined by Eric Morales not David Diaz. Let's be real. And Morales was pretty much done by then so I don't know how many buys he was able to attract anyway. Do you?

Just because Top Rank put on Pinoy Power PPVs that doesn't mean that those fighters were known by casuals.

So I'm not buying your contention that David Diaz was some big money fight for Pacquiao.

What he was for certain is an easier opponent than Campbell. And an in-house fight. Those are probably the real answers to my question.

It takes two to tango, Diaz has featured in two HBO PPV headliners whichever way you wanna spin it.

                  Let it go brother...

How did he choose David Diaz above Campbell if the Diaz fight was already agreed before Campbell was even champion? You’ve literally contradicted yourself within the same post.

Saying Pacquiao ducked Nate Campbell is worse than saying Mayweather ducked Paul Williams.
