The reality is that it's just a way for Floyd fans to give credit to Mayweather for any success that Canelo has.

You notice it's really only Floyd fans who say that, I rarely ever see Canelo fans say that (unless they were a Floyd fan before).

Canelo improved and would have grown as a fighter with or without losing to Floyd. It was a goddamn professional fight, dudes are acting like Floyd was literally teaching him and showing him techniques when they fought.

So if he didnt fight froid, how do you see his fights with lara ggg and jacobs going? Would he have performed worse or the same?

and 2) he learned about tactics...don't always need to box, don't always need to brawl...have to pick your spots.
    Nailed the first part.
But the second part i agree with as well. It just seems canelo has no second gear or killer instinct if you will. Hes content with just going with a decision and fights at a regular pace with no urgency.

I mean, I dont think Canelo could ever beat Floyd but Canelo hasnt lost since so I guess you can say hes learned not to lose.

Why don’t you ask canelo or his team if they learned anything from that fight? It was valuable experience any way you slice it.

I’m not sure why you’re singling out the Floyd fight anyway. Look at canelo from his first fight until now...did he improve? You’d have to assume, in order to make those improvements, he learned things along the way. So if it’s established that he’s learning from his fights, why would you assume he learned nothing from the one fight vs arguably the best opponent he faced? Makes absolutely no sense.

Agreed...knowing that all he has to do is go 12 and be competitive, it definitely shows I think...as you said, makes him just coast with no killer instinct...a good point there

Yep. To detail it more he found out that to have “stroke” it starts with ur record in the ring. The truth is every opponent usually ends up with as much as possible. Everyone constantly complains how opponents are overpaid against the champs ands that’s just the precedent of boxing history. When do we ever hear about a guy fighting for a steal? Any factor Nelo didn’t like and couldn’t control he learned he had to honestly perform in the ring consistently to become the guy to control all the variables. It’s sounds lame but all he had to do was keep winning to be in the same position. He will never make the huge payday Floyd did because being undefeated was the huge factor in Floyd’s attraction. Maybe he really thought he was going to handle Floyd? So maybe now he he analyzes things more carefully, as he hasn’t lost since. But yeah u don’t go twelve with the best and not come away with some sort of silver lining. One day we will see an older Nelo fight the young lion. That’s when he might draw from the Floyd fight the most.

When non-advanced testing for Floyd because he’s scared of needles, PAC diehards, have to bump in because catchweight king Manny (no VaDA Thurman) isn’t in the spotlight.

I heard there was a quote of someone in Nelos camp saying “It was like a man beating a child”?
I think u nailed it. Slipping punches and counters look good. Nelo will never unload a hundred punches in a round, but he knows how to half as many really shine.
