He learned that spending most of his time in Mexico fighting tomato cans was no preparation for floyd and that he was green and was a little too early for him especially whilst drained, too much against him to pull a win out of hat.
He also learned or realised floyd would duck a rematch

      how ridiculous

fighters develop... they are a product of their environment

they become, who they are... because of what they experience

if you want to be world-class, you need to spar world-class opponents

Mayweather showed Canelo where he needs to be, if he wants to operate at that level... things that were bread-n-butter for Canelo, did not work on Mayweather... Canelo learned how important it was to think faster, to anticipate better, to change-it-up so they can't settle... Canelo will never rely on his power, and I bet he listens intently to every word from his coach, now that he knows just how important those little factors are, and how quickly add up

Canelo is a better fighter now, than when he fought Mayweather... he may not have beaten Lara without that experience under his belt, and he looked a much more mature fighter when he got in there with Cotto

Canelo still looks to be improving every single fight

the Mayweather fight was a baptism of fire that did not break Canelo... so the only possible result could be, that it would make him stronger

not the first time... a fighter got grabbed by the collar and dragged up to the level he needed to be at, only to realize that he belonged there... and it won't be the last

the same thing happened to Mayweather, it just happened much earlier

      ridiculous thread

The reality is that it's just a way for Floyd fans to give credit to Mayweather for any success that Canelo has.

You notice it's really only Floyd fans who say that, I rarely ever see Canelo fans say that (unless they were a Floyd fan before).

Canelo improved and would have grown as a fighter with or without losing to Floyd. It was a goddamn professional fight, dudes are acting like Floyd was literally teaching him and showing him techniques when they fought.
Well, Canelo learned how to leverage A-side with catchweights and rehudration clause and drain opponents with it, since he was a victim of it himself.

He learned that elite level skill can overcome a 17 pound size disadvantage.

He didn't learn one thing in particular, but rather gained experience against an elite opponent on a massive stage. I sort of agree that the fight didn't necessarily make him a better fighter, he'd be on the same trajectory IMO. However, he took a loss early and was able to rebuild into a successful career.

His defense to offense and offense to defense has dramatically improved. Before Id always thought Canelo never transitioned well but hes gotten 10xs better at mixing up his game.

I mean, I dont think Canelo could ever beat Floyd but Canelo hasnt lost since so I guess you can say hes learned not to lose.

That all roads leads to Floyd Mayweather? 😂 That’s my best Mayweather quote.

I think he learned 2 things mainly...1) weight clauses...not being snarky, but I think he learned that when you have that leverage and can get away with it, it helps.

and 2) he learned about tactics...don't always need to box, don't always need to brawl...have to pick your spots.
