He won every fight except Canelo.

I would have given him the Canelo fight, but he ran way too much. Even with the running, fight could have gone either way IMO.

I was a Williams fan, but Lara got robbed clearly in that fight. Lol

I might have to rewatch the Hurd fight. I remember really enjoying it when I watched it, but I wasn't scoring it (due to heavy alcohol consumption). It was probably Lara's most exciting fight.

        Yeah I would agree.

I am HIGHLY critical of most cuban boxers and have an axe to grind against most guys who fight in a negative, defensive style, but Lara has never been one of those guys. He doesn't get credit for getting guys below his level out of there, and having high drama fights with many of his top opponents.

Lara looked better in losses than when he wins. He just doesn't have a high output and mainly is a one two defensive fighter.

The Canelo fight was embarrassing they way he ran. The Williams, Hurd, Angulo and Castano fight were great fights.

Lara has a ton of skills but like all defense first fighters he doesn't appeal to the masses

I thought Hurd beat him even without the knockdown. Mediocre plodding Angulo knocked him down twice. Great fighters don't struggle with Angulo. He had too many close fights, draws and losses against average fighters to be anywhere near the best and I don't remember him ever being on pfp best lists even down at number 8, 9 or 10. He got robbed in his fight with Williams but not all of his losses and draws were robberies.
I'd have to disagree. Getting knocked down by a big puncher to only get up and stop him isn't exactly a black mark on him. He took those knockdowns well and did what he needed to do. Champion's mentality right there. He drew to Vanes on a technical decision so not really a great indicator. He drew to Carlos Molina who wasn't exactly a bad fighter and that was early enough in his career. Then he drew to Castaño who's very good at 36 years of age. Hardly a terrible showing either. I thought he boxed well in that fight and it was close enough to have fairly called it a draw. Drawing isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Some guys just come in with the right game plan. He avenged that Vanes draw convincingly too so props to him for that. He really is underrated. You may not like his style but you can't deny it works very well.

If your so super skilled, you pull those fights out. Overrated in my opinion.

No worries we all like to drink during a fight and there's no denying he ran a lot in the Canelo fight but I think he figured Canelo couldn't deal with having to chase someone rightly. It was a smart gameplan, as unappealing as it was to watch.

Precisely. He doesn't bore me at all, he's just the experienced matador to the bulls he's facing.

Fair enough, it was a close fight. I respect that opinion.

I know most don't like the running but I thought it was effective despite it being boring as all hell. When he decides to trade a bit he does make for very exciting fights indeed.
