Who will be talked about more in 100 years? Floyd Mayweather Jr or Manny Pacquiao?

North America: Floyd
Global: Pac
Hardcore: Floyd
Casuals: Pac
Non-boxing People: Pac.
Because he will be praised about his contributions to the Filipino people and will be hated with his political career. Outside of the ring, there's no much to talk about Floyd.Comment

Hell its 2020 and Manny is a world champ and Floyd is retired and Literally no one talks about Manny while Floyd has 100's of threads daily about himComment

The amount of hate for Mayweather in this thread is too funny I can’t cope with it you guys are killing me 😂😂😂
Let’s be real a ton of you guys didn’t know who Pacquiao was before he fought Oscar, and once he got schooled by Floyd most of you turned your back on him. He’s still active but you see way more threads on here about Floyd (retired for 3 years, hasn’t fought a boxer in 5 years) than Pac despite him still being active and winning.
Even though he’s retired Floyd is the most discussed boxer on this forum and it’s not close. There will never be a fighter as skilled, smart dominant or as polarising as Money Mayweather and more and more people are starting to realise he is TBE. Ali’s haters all ended up on his nuts by the time he retired and we are starting to see the same with Floyd. As evidenced by even his so called “haters” making more threads about him than their so called favourite fighters.
Manny is a legendary fighter too but he’s not close to as popular active as Floyd is retired, not to mention you can make a strong argument that Marquez was better than him and most people thought he won the majority of their fights. Floyd will go down in history with a great case for being the best ever. Lots of fighters have said it and even Boxrec came out and said it, and now that boxing is boring without him fans are starting to see it too.Comment

Manny, in a large part because he will go down in history as the GOAT Phillipines fighter.
Floyd is just another amazing USA fighter and historically will always be in Ali's shadow.
We won't be alive to know for sure though.Comment

This is an interesting response because it assumes Manny’s top wins, which were on BAD cards and regular HBO, will be remembered more than the wins Floyd had on PPV in events that were the primary sporting event in the country in that day. I’m talking man at, canelo and odh, not to mention the mcgregor thing. The fighter who will be remembered more is the fighter who is sensational. The fighter who took risks.
The fighter that dared the wisdom of the boxing gods.
At the end of the day, Floyd will be remembered for the money
Pacquiao will be remembered for his sensational fights.
It’s almost like suggesting a big regular season win is remembered more than a playoff win or a super bowl win even though more people and more media are paying attention during the post season.
I also don’t recall Manny being involved in a corrales/ Castillo or ward/ gatti type epic fight.Comment

I don’t agree that he shouldn’t have fought everyone but I think he is correct in that thinking.
I also think we can’t assume the casual fan thinks like a knowledgeable boxing fan such as yourself.
Same applies imo to the modern era. Casual fans will not know all the intimate details like us diehards.Comment

This poster has obviously not been on the site much. Floyd’s clothes at the super bowl generate 2 threads with over 100 posts in each. Same as his purchases.Comment
