Now obviously America has changed from Jack Johnson's time to Floyd Mayweather's time but what has oddly stayed the same is white people still despise the loud, brash, ****y, black fighter. That fighter usually generates the most revenue because the majority of white fans pay to see that fighter lose. That is the fighter that is most remembered. You all know this.

Just like Johnson, Ali, and Tyson, Floyd no matter how much current posters hate that reality. Floyd defined the era. He was the most known fighter. He was the most polarizing fighter. He is the fighter most of the boxers from the following era pattern themselves after. He was the cash cow. He was the face of the sport.

Just look at this thread so far. The 2 posters before me that claimed Manny would be more remembered post about Floyd more than any other fighter.
Johnson is remembered by some for breaking down the color barrier, but he's remembered by a lot of others for putting the damn thing back up.

What does put the color barrier back up mean? I surely hope you are not implying Johnson was at fault for the way he was treated. I don’t think that is plausible in any way but you are entitled to your opinion.

My point remains about the fighters that history tends to
Remember the most. The others tend to be remembered as their opponents.

I think that is how it will play out for Floyd and Manny. Manny will be like Joe Frazier- champion, hof’er, respected by the boxing diehards but seen as mostly as casual sports fans as Floyd’s main rival the way most remember Frazier relative to Ali.

The difference being Frazier has a win over Ali and fought him tough in 2 fights where manny lost clearly and somewhat embarrassingly to Floyd.

Why do people even talk about jack johnson today and his story. Its usually not the intricate details of his title defenses.

In 100 years some random person isnt going to be talking about Mayweather's check hook KO of hatton vs Mannys brutal accumulation stoppage over margarito. They will be talking about them as celebrities.

They pretty evenly famous now and they arent dead yet. If either of them does some wild chit, like what if Pacquaio goes OJ on jinkee, just as an example, that would make him more famous.

Why is Mike Tyson more famous than Larry Holmes, is it because of his boxing record, him winning the fight or is it because he bit Holyfields ear off, went to prison, got his face tattooed and does movie cameos?

Even look at Ali, everyone knows who he is, knows he refused to go to vietnam, knows his charisma ect. But if you ask them hey could I get a break down of how you think a foreman rematch would go or do they even know how many times for sure he fought Fraizer, they probably dont ***ing know.
I agree with the point made even though I would disagree that they are equally famous.

Manny isnt the celebrity that Floyd is primarily because floyd is an American.

The other part of it is who is the better fighter of the era. That is clearly Floyd and the more removed we are from their heydays the more this is clear.

Johnson didn’t put any color barriers up. The racist evil hypocritical whites did.

Of course he’s more remembered for his life outside of the ring and the racial politics that defined his life/career because nobody alive now actually saw him fight and there’s little footage of his fights for folk to go back and view. It’s not like you can go to YouTube and look up all of his fights to study.

You can do that with Floyd and pacquiao tho. 100 or whatever years from now, the people who have real authentic appreciation for boxing will be able to go back and study floyd and manny’s fights because there’s video and digital footage.

It’s still funny how Floyd has ruined so many of your lives here. Lol at convincing yourselves that manny will be remembered more in 100 years. Floyd is more remebered and talked about now even having been retired for years while manny is still active fighting.

The fighter who will be remembered more is the fighter who is sensational. The fighter who took risks.
The fighter that dared the wisdom of the boxing gods.

At the end of the day, Floyd will be remembered for the money
Pacquiao will be remembered for his sensational fights.

People will talk about Roy JoneS and pacquiao for eternity.

Guys like Floyd and Hopkins will be forgotten in 20-30 years. People will just say , “ oh them... yea they were great boxers but boring as sht paint dry”.. fighters like them are forgettable and they will be forgotten.

I already forgot that Hopkins even boxed before. That’s how irrelevant he was to me.

Pacman will never be forgotten though because he is already way up there beyond Mt.Rushmore next to the Sugar Rays and Ali..

Lol Floyd always losing polls and this site is filled with hateful Americans...what is going on?

Anyway, I think both will be remembered somewhat evenly but Pacquiao will be remembered for all his great fights and great opponents...Floyd will be remembered for all the great fights he could have had.
