Could be but it’s hard when he got screwed by Loma avoiding him.

Just like odh and Shane refusing to fight Floyd for so long.

    Just something to think about.

That's a losing proposition for DAZN in my opinion, since Charlo doesn't really move the needle. But it's their money.

So you can't say they aren't trying to recruit African-American talent.
How is it a losing proposition? Most people will buy a year subscription.

These will all be new subscribers.

DAZN wouldn’t do it if they thought it was a money loser.

I think they realized after some time that without African American fighters they couldn’t tap into that base of fans, a group that has shown a willingness to spend money on boxing when fighters from our community are given the spotlight.

DAZN has tried to correct that with huge offers for African American fighters but these people aren’t dumb- they know the money comes with strings attached.

Boxers are carefully weighing going to DAZN to fight a DAZN fighter where the promoter hand picked the venues, judges, ref and had complete control of the event. That is a recipe to get robbed.

You can’t just throw money at boxers and expect them to jump. They want control and power just as much as money and DAZN can’t give them that.
        Great input

Charlo doesn't fill arenas or bring in viewers. It is what it is.

But despite that DAZN is still willing to throw crazy money at him. Just like they throw crazy money at a lot of other guys.

Yet MCC still has the nerve to say they are only catering to Mexican fans.

How does a pbc fighter have control fighting a DAZN fighter on the network owned by the DAZN promoter?

You know why these offers were refused. DAZN isn’t going to be given assistance selling subs.

DAZN is holding the Canelo/ ggg 3 fight for as long as they possible can. Again you keep harping on the charlo offer but that is only to divert from the real issue- Andrade signed with DAZN and cant get a unification fight with either of the best guys in DAZN.

None of you think charlo is the best mw. the real question is why is DAZN blocking its own fighter from getting a shot at the best MW’s?

Yet you want all these guys to sign with DAZN when they can see how DAZN screws it’s own guys.
Can you name one DAZN fighter who is being blocked from fighting elsewhere for more money or has said anything at all about being screwed by DAZN?

Canelo and GGG are both able to fight whoever they want to fight, which is the definition of having power and control. It isn't DAZN's fault that neither of them seem interested in fighting Andrade.

Andrade isn't blaming DAZN for him not getting fights with GGG or Canelo, only PBC fanboys are doing that.

No promoter has the right to hand pick refs and judges. They are appointed by the Athletic commission who sanctions the fight.

Sure, being the A side house fighter sometimes carries benefits, but don't pretend that only applies to fights on DAZN. It's part of the sport and always has been.

I don’t understand why it’s so hard for some to accept the fact that Mexican-Americans are the biggest boxing fan base in the United States.

It’s true that the African-American fan base can be profitable and is sometimes neglected but it’ll never pass the profitability of the Mexican-American fan base.

Mexicans will watch Charlo vs. Harrison II, Golovkin vs. Derevyanchenko and Garcia vs. Vargas.

For whatever reason African-American fans seem to only watch Charlo vs. Harrison II type fights and white Americans seem to only watch Golovkin vs. Derevyanchenko type fights.

I think the DAZN handlers are using the big names they have to push the app forward and to open the doors to whoever wants to come over. That happens to be the Mexican demographic primarily and with Joshua, the UK fan base.

I just can’t see a for profit international company targeting one demographic group in America. There’s just way too much money and opportunity to draw people in. With the right fighters and promotion.
                  Precisely, thank you.

I'm just amused by this thread...

There is an assumption that DAZN is some kind of combat boxing app, where its just a small part of their entire business.

And you have an actual Mexican fighting on the Mexican dates but he's not doing the numbers Floyd did. Floyd's fight with Berto did better than Canelo's last fight and his fight against Jacobs
Comparing a subscription model to ppv is like comparing apples to oranges, but the fact that Mexican Americans often get more amped up for a fight involving a non-Mexican fighter is a testament to what true fans of the sport they are. If you're a fan of guys like Pac, Floyd, or GGG (or a boxing fan in general who would like to see the sport continue to thrive) you should be grateful for the Latino/Mexican American support they received, so I don't get the underlying resentment.

Umm. You might want to take note that what the stats you're answering about show is actually an increase in the African American share of new viewers and a decrease in the Hispanic share relative to previous Mayweather PPVs. Now given that this information was quite specific to the PPVs of Floyd and also a few years old I'd be cautious about assuming that the trend has continued since or that it applies to the viewership of other fighters, but it's possiblly an avenue you should be interested in exploring.

                      Just saying.
