Eddie Hearn really doesn't understand the US market

I’m not seeing the word ‘free’ there.
And either way, ticketing belongs to the venue that ‘buys’ the event with a site fee. If they failed to sell them and instead gave away unsold tickets, that’s on them not on PBC.Last edited by saintpat; 11-28-2019, 12:22 AM.Comment

I imagine he's got a pretty sweet deal with Mikey. I was and still am so shocked how easy Spence handled him, I know the weight and the height dynamic but still, Mikey looked befuddled. No doubt this crushed his market value somewhat and Hearn got him on the cheap (by DAZN standards...which means he probably still overpaid lols) and he's an entertaining fighter to watch, which DAZN and any broadcaster is trying to deliver afterall.Comment

Could you cite your source for this please, ideally revenue and profits? I'm curious how PBC are making more than Mathroom. 10-15% of AJ's % alone might even be worth more than the total sum of PBCs profit. (gross)Comment

The tickets were free. There's plenty of evidence.
MGM pays huge site fees to make money on hotel bookings and casino gamblers. If tickets don't sell it's a failure on the promoter's part. Their job is to promote an event and get people to show up. PBC has failed at making Deontay into a star despite having every quality that appeals to a mainstream audience. He should be a much bigger draw than Canelo who is a foreigner who doesn't speak english and has a dull personality.Comment

So weekly shows aren't weekly because they take the summer off? Monthly shows aren't monthly if they take the fall off? PBC will end up having done 11 shows on Fox in the first year. If you don't want to call that a monthly series, what do you want to call it?
Not in the demos advertisers pay for.Every single one of those shows has been in last place in viewership for broadcast networks.
Blatant lie. They're getting a small fraction of what the UFC was getting
Another blatant lie.PBC also has a monopoly on Bounce TV.
You have no way of knowing what Showtime's viewership is. They don't release viewership numbers for the Showtime service. You only get Nielsens from the linear Showtime channel, but millions of people subscribe to Showtime directly.Showtime lost money on the only event that had over 500k viewers.
Yes, very thin roster. They have nobody of interest beyond a small handful of guys and those small handful of guys don't draw. Crawford's big PPV did 100k and they haven't attempted PPV since. Nobody cares about Inoue in this country. Loma isn't drawing. Shockingly, Americans generally want to watch Americans. Casual fans see PBC fighters on other Fox shows, they can actually pronounce their names, and they tune in to watch them.Top Rank has Crawford, Loma, and Inoue. 3 of the top 5 consensus pound for pound fighters. Thin roster doe.Comment

Well I asked for both but if you can show me even the revenue figures, I would love to see them. I asked because I can't find even a quarterly summary anywhere.
Quick edit, I did not mean to sound antagonistic, I am just curious. I just think AJ is making obscene amounts of money and Matchroom will take a % of this, even from some of his commercial deals.Last edited by Articulateboxin; 11-28-2019, 03:03 AM.Comment

Well you can find Mathcrooms filings on company house, could you tell me where you're finding PBCs revenue from please? Again, as above - i'm not being antagonistic, i'm just curious!
*edit*
Matchroom boxings turnover for 2017-2018 was 68 million sterling at 4.2 million profit. Which considering the companies size, is actually enormous. (Bearing in mind profit is once everybodies salaries are paid)Last edited by Articulateboxin; 11-28-2019, 03:24 AM.Comment
