Bias...
Uninformed...
Delusional...
I can’t stand Floyd but to say he isn’t top 10 is ludicrous.

I think we have a winner
And that person calls themselves a historian?

He’s unquestionably a top 10 Welterweight though. Whether based on resume, opposition, longevity, skill level etc. I can say beyond any reasonable doubt Mayweather is a top 10 welterweight.

According to Monte Cox, who is a noteworthy boxing historian apparently, Floyd doesn't crack the top 10 ww's all-time. Keeping it a buck you guys can't handle that.
It just doesn't sink in to you Floyd Boys that Floyd is the only fighter who they do this for. They don't do it for the Sugars, or Ali, or Pernell, or Holy, Roy, or even Oscar. Only Floyd the critics say the same thing consistently and you dudes are still in denial.
In that same post, I also made clear that if you make the case against Floyd using facts, fine because it makes sense that boxers that spent more of their career at ww would rank higher than Floyd who fought only 11 times at ww.
This all comes down to credibility of the person making the point. Cox is a respected historian but he used incorrect information to reach his conclusion. That is why so many in this thread question his point.
Further, Cox point, made in 2012, doesn’t stand the test of time. Now when you assess things it’s clear most think floyd is at least a top 10 ww.

without a doubt mayweather's team [haymon] waited for pacquiao to slow down. they did it for money.
doesn't mean he's not an all time great, because he is. monte cox needs a kick in the face and that's obvious. but don't act like floyd mayweather was ****ingin down doors to fight manny pacquiao. he fought lesser fighters, gladly i might add, for hugely inflated purses. so did pacquiao.
it's called "building a fight." guys do it all the time. they box for money. there's really no case of it working better for both parties. manny fought algieri, brandon rios, etc for HUGELY inflated purses. floyd did the same thing, tacked an extra zero on there for 5+ years fighting victor ortiz, robert guerrero, basically antbody who could beat andre berto

i like floyd a little bit more than paquiao.
IMHO both are responsible for fighting that late in their careers and i do think floyd won their fight.
having said that i dont see floyd wining against.
leonard, duran and specially the hitman (not going to mention haggler here, there is no point) So just there hes not even top 3 in my book.
i dont know about the other olden names but i do think there are probably 2 more better than floyd.
so top 5 NO from me, top 10? maybe (because of my lack of knowledge of older boxers)
now about margarito? (and im mexican) i think margarito has no right to be at welter he was just a cadaver eating his own weight just to compete at lower weights.
About mosley? the guys is a cheat, suddenly he received a second wind of air and no body question it? knowing he was a cheater
so i dont think mayweather avoided margarito or mosley.
