I personally think GGG is overrated and manufactured by HBO he was fighting in a weak MW era and still had problems with every decent opponent he fought

Maidana had success in the first fight because Floyd fought him flat-footed

Mayweather heard the " runner " criticism from fans, so they cherry-picked Maidana who was fresh off the Broner win..... they thought Maidana would be Floyd's "Gatti" at 147, when they saw how easy he got outboxed by Devon Alexander

everyone forgot to tell Maidana, who fought much better than expected

we all saw what happened in the rematch when Floyd boxed on his toes

by round 8... G would be frustrated, exhausted from missing all night long, and he would be touched up... and making the weight would kill him

160 could be different, but not at 154

IMO Golovkin at 154 would be at a big disadvantage. All Floyd would have to do is make Golovkin chase him and the weight cut would drain Golovkin after the middle rounds. Golovkin is not a big middleweight but a six pound cut is too much. Maybe when he was in his early twenties it would work out but those days were over by the time this fight was a remote possibility.

Would have looked like Tyson Spinks in 88. Golovkin was cheated out of showing his best. His career legacy is about the super fights he was cheated out of (Cotto, Martinez, Floyd, Canelo, Jacobs two years earlier, Quillin, etc).

This is why boxing is so warped and distorted. The greatest champions oft get cheated out of showing their best vs best - Golovkin, McCallum, Margarito, Williams, Burley, Moore, etc.

Unless you really rated Lemieux highly it's just a fact that when GGG steps up in class he doesn't look impressive and knocks out the lesser opponents kind of like a MW Donaire

Like I said he was lucky to be in a weak MW era and made smart career move not moving up or down
Yeah I just disagree with ya my friend...not really sure how any could hate much on GGG's resume tbh...would say Lemieux Murray Brook Jacobs Monroe etc were all really quality fighters with different styles and he had decisive wins there in all of those...then had about 10 other at least 'quality' fighters on his list...Proska Ouma Stevens Macklin Geale Adama Rosado etc... where he dominated them with a KO and hardly lost a round.

History shows when other ATGs even have a run of 10 fights or so vs just quality type fighters like that, they generally have a loss or two or at least a couple controversial fights...never happened for GGG...SD was controversial but he is a level or two above just quality imo.

Hell even on Mayweather v Pacquiao Jim Lampley was saying something like GGG is one of the greatest knockout artist of all time do yourselfa favor and watch his highlights on HBO youtube chanel

Now I will say GGG is much better than Bute but the point stands
GGG had like the highest KO% in MW history I think for a while lol..a premier division at that...not sure if he still does after the last few decisions...but yeah as usual imo most of the criticism of GGG is way over the top there my friend...the man was obviously a great KO fighter.

You know I've never actually watched much of Floyd-Maidana 2...and haven't been able to find the whole fight for the first one...just remember seeing some rounds from the first fight where Maidana was really taking it to him, physically anyway.

Yeah at 154 it is hard to say what GGG would have had at that weight...Canelo was a little green at that time, and fought a bad gameplan, to go along with the bit of draining...I think the experience GGG had by that time would have let him know that trying to box with Floyd would not have been the way to go...GGG can box too, don't get me wrong...but yeah he would have to just try and brawl/street fight with Floyd to really take the fight.

I think GGG is considerably bigger/stronger than Maidana...so just from the success Chino was able to have there, I think GGG would be able to have a bit more success...I rate GGG pretty high, so I may give him more of a shot even at 154 than most...but overall I just feel like at some weight a guy will just be too big for Floyd...I think the Maidana fights were a bit of a precursor to that.

Floyd was not really a natural 154 at all...that is probably closer to GGG's natural weight than Floyd's imo...so saying GGG may take that one is not really a shot at Floyd at all for me...at some weight a guy will just be too big for Floyd.

You must have missed the Delahoya fight. But you never have been smart.

that kind of thinking is why Excusekin fans are the worst in boxing

they took the fights they wanted, and they passed on the rest

                      just like everyone else
