Honestly I never really understood why that narrative kept getting pushed so much...it kind of came out of nowhere and then because a lot of people/groups don't like GGG it seemed to stick

This is a little tongue in cheek so don't mean to offend anyone

But if you're white...Ward ducked GGG...if you're black or Mexican, lil G ducked Ward lol...joking a little bit but that probably holds true for 90% of the people on here.

I think the truth is that when HBO first mentioned the fight...Ward was coming off an injury/inactive, and wanted a few tune ups first...GGG was just starting his rise to 'stardom' and told Ward to just let him know when he wanted to fight.

The only other overture from either side that I am aware of is when Ward sent GGG a contract right after GGG-Lemieux was announced...I believe it was still a warm-up fight or two situation before the actual fight, and GGG was finally due the Canelo-Cotto winner after Lemieux, so of course he was waiting and focused on that fight.

The truth imo is that the fight with GGG-Ward would always have been hard to make...different weight classes for one, so one more thing to figure out/negotiate...Ward imo has always proven to be a tough negotiator, and was pretty clearly the B side once the fight became talked about at all...I think he would have wanted to control certain things, like weight and venue, and since GGG had other options, especially a lot of other options that paid similarly or much better, I can't really see how he would have been itching to give up much leverage to do that fight.

For a lot of us 'hardcore' fans...it would have been a great fight to actually see, to see which side could claim bragging rights...but because there was no real money in it, and there were other hoops to jump through, and because it was a high risk (one guy would lose his 0 and take a loss) and low reward ('legacy' would have been nice, but no money - as Ward said yesterday about Kov fighting Canelo - this is prize fighting not pride fighting).

The fight made a lot more sense for each guy to talk about than actually do - you get publicity and get your fans riled up...but no casuals were tuning in for that one unfortunately...and tbh I think Ward knew all of that and used talking it up to his advantage to gain some attention from it as GGG was starting to become a top 5 star or so in boxing.

There is something about him and Golovkin dude where he loses all rational thought like I have never seen someone put on blinders from coherent to foolish that’s fast.

You folks love dropping the word casual like it’s an argument winner..guess what we are ALL casuals unless you can show me you live this day in and day out and go to the nationals the golden gloves then you are just as much a casual as everyone else.

He fought brook and wade but why? Oh that’s right bjs lost his pen and brook stepped in. Wade was what oh that’s right a mandatory...let’s not act like he just upped and sought these guys out..again more history rewriting...I don’t see nearly the level of fervor for people who outright decide to fight even worse fighters than that...oh wait that’s right they aren’t named Golovkin. Give us a break and cut the sht already.

GGG didn't want that work. His team was building a reputation of GGG being an avoided fighter who KOs people, and ward would easily shut that down. GGG knows deep inside that he will get demolished or embarrassed at least. GGG will never fight tough opponents unless he has zero choice and nowhere to go, hence why he is now fighting derevyanchenko. He would have avoided derevyanchenko if he had a choice.

From what I remember, HBO was floating the idea of them fighting. Golovkin wasn't interested in moving up. Then once Ward was sidelined knowing Ward was going to be out, GGG started throwing his name out there. Then Ward came back and was making a three fight deal with HBO they wanted the third fight to be Golovkin. GGG didn't want it and the third fight became Kovalev.

I put up facts, you come back with haterade opinions. That's how this entire thing has gone. Enjoy your silence in ignoreland once again. Not sure what type of chemical imbalance you have where one day you make a lucid post and then three days later we get this mess of a raving full-of-hate idiot who is blind to any fact placed before him....
