It would be a lot better for dazn in the American market, if the “American” who just became the unified hw champion wasn’t talking about taking the belts back to Mexico. It would also be better if he wasn’t fat...casual combat sports fans are gonna think hw boxing is a joke if a guy that looks like that can be a champion.

This was a huge event last night, it's in all the papers in NYC, here in Dallas, overseas, ESPN, Yahoo etc etc. And guess what? It was on DAZN. Not HBO ( I know HBO doesn't do boxing anymore; do the casuals know?), Shotime, ESPN or FS. If casuals didn't know about the app before, they sur do now.

Big, big, shot in the arm for DAZN. Especially as a Mexican-American won the fight.

Agreed in the part that people are suddenly talking about the fight and DAZNs name is getting out there more... unfortunately they dont really have any good fights until maybe late July to capitalize on (but you can probably say that about the other two as well). My month subscription is up tomorrow and will not be re-upping until probably Aug/Sept depending on fight schedule.

          But...but...what about the cricket matches?

Seriously, the MLB updates, plus the boxing interviews and replays is worth the $10. And the Japanese league soccer.

Helps DAZN a lot. Couldnt have got a better advertisement. If Joshua won it would have been expected, things carried on as usual. The upset has got everyone talking.

Hell Andy could even beat Wilder !!
Contract is already in place though and to be fair Ruiz isn’t going to get a bigger fight then fight AJ (for more money) anyway. If he wins again then he is right up there top5 in the world because he proves it wasn’t a fluke (and 4 knock downs doesn’t suggest it)

Ruiz is one of Haymon’s fighters. Haymon will want that fight on Showtime/FOX in the U.S.

So who knows. DAZN have lost out massive. Joshua-Wilder will have to take place on a PBC Network now that Wilder is the A side in the U.S.

And if Canelo loses to GGG in September what will they do ?
They are also not guaranteed to get the rights to Big US sports rights as the US justice department will likely want to know where that Russian Money is coming from which is ultimately what is funding DAZN

                Rough times ahead..
What? Assuming there's a rematch clause, why wouldn't it continue to be with Matchroom and aligned to their channels?

It's not a mandatory. There shouldn't be any bidding required.

It'll help, they still have a ton of quality fighters for their product. Canelo being the biggest, but if AJ doesn't win the rematch, they'll be out of it on the Heavyweight train honestly.

Thought I don't think the event (as in the boxing card) was huge, but the result became huge for sure. Just like no one being interested in Wilder/Breazeale but EVERYONE heard about the 1st round KO. I think this has a similar momentum.

I mean serious out of all the posters I’ve read and engaged with their is about 5% worth your time the rest have more of a negative effect on you, I shouldn’t have allowed it to happen but it happened yet it took me a little time to recognise it at that moment I decided right there and then enough is enough I check in time to time read comments here and there but all in all I don’t engage, I think I may have this past week due to idiots claiming Miller was a more credible challenge than Andy R, I’m convinced those claiming so don’t watch the sport in general just look at photos of Andy and laugh.

I see it as a stewardship posters like yourself have taken on, nobody can do the job full time nor permanently it has to be a passing of the baton. Their is certainly a recognition between the 5% and that in itself is worth something you’ve just to silence the racket whilst talking amongst buddies and respectable posters every now and then they have to be humiliated for what comes out of their mouth.

Personally now I know I can’t speak for him but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of that ***ish Reptile guy who likes to humiliate posters who support PED cheats, if theirs one thing that riles him it’s PED use in the sport he loves.
I hear you. I gave up on trying to talk boxing and spend most of my time here in the lounge for the last 3 months.
Though I don't actually wish any ill will toward AJ and I was calling him the best current HW up until this event, I'm over the moon that something interesting actually happened in boxing this week. I was starting to giving up.
