I don’t think Canelo was coasting he always fades a bit in second half’s of his fights. It’s just Jacobs didn’t take advantage when he should have.

He stepped up big in the last 2-3 rounds and secured the wide decision. If he fades it’s temporary

I agree he definitely stepped it up in the 12th when he needed to leave no doubt.

Don’t forget the 11th I think that’s when Jacobs knew he couldn’t beat him when Canelo turned on the style

You're calling BS on MY paper thin argument?

            Ha!

You are the guy who thinks that going life and death with GG and beating Danny Jacobs, is better than what Toney and McCallum did at the weight.

I never said Roy had great wins at MW. But anybody with any understanding of the sport and a functioning pair of eyes can see that he was on another level to Canelo. Again, he blasted out Tate in the same year he beat Toney in 1994.

Although Hopkins wasn't highly ranked at the time, he was still a great fighter. You can see that for yourself if you watch their fight from 1993. Hopkins was 28 then. If you had a time machine and you transported that version of Hopkins into today's MW rankings, then along with GG and Jacobs etc, he'd undoubtedly be one of the best fighters at the weight. Personally, I'd say that he was better than Jacobs. And Roy beat him easily with an injured hand.

Not that it matters, but an interesting topic to debate, would be which of the following wins rate higher:

A: Easily beating a 28 year old version of Hopkins with an injured hand.

B: Beating a 36 year old version of GG in a close fight.

Man that division in that era was deep you had Toney, RJJ, BHop, McCollum, Iran Barkey although past his prime was still tough. The middleweight division was much deeper compared to now.

                You know it.

                I'm not knocking Danny Jacobs.

                I like the guy.

But back in the 90's, he'd have struggled to have been rated as a top 5 fighter.

Claiming that Canelo has a better MW resume than the likes of Toney and McCallum is just a joke.

So you keep mentioning guys Roy fought either at 175 or at 160 when they were greener than baby shyte like Hop

G was prime when Canelo fought him Hop was years from his prime when RJJ fought him.

                    That’s indisputable lad

Keep trying to spin your argument that Roy has some atg 160 resume

Once he beats Andrade, he can get that title. I will also like to see him against Charlo but I think they will dismiss that fight and act like Charlo ain't nothing.
