Exactly! Haymon is the decision maker at PBC, not some unknown sub-promotors who are just working for Haymon.

Find it hard to believe Ortiz or his coach knew nothing about Miller testing positive, and Hearn looking for a replacement, and not contacting their management and talking about the possibility of being a sub, and going over what would be an acceptable offer.

You don't understand how the business end of the sport works.

The promoter, Dade Promotions in this case, is the first line of defense on making a deal. Everyone should know this by now with all the recent lawsuit talk & twitter bs with Floyd offering Ryan Garcia, a fighter contracted to GBP, a deal.

Anyone else is only getting 2nd hand info on what the deal details are from Dade including Haymon.

In fact afaik Ortiz isn't even a Haymon guy. He's merely fighting on PBC via a deal Haymon made with Dade promotions. Everything goes through Dade.

I legit didn't even realize Ortiz HAD a f#cking promoter til today so the whole dynamic of this situation has changed upon learning this news. I thought he was a free agent & was doing deals himself/with his manager.

Haymon didn't have to offer anything. Dades Promo awareness Al could stop working with them was enough to turn down the deal.
That's how uncle Haymon is circumventing the Ali Act at the expense of fighters.

Anyone who has followed Ortiz career knows Dade Promotions are a sketchy shady promotions company that got their hooks into Ortiz and control everything. Remember Golden Boy had him lined up for a title shot he agreed and wanted to take the fight but Dade Promotions wanted more money and blocked the fight. Finally golden boy said these guys are too much hassle to deal with and took a buyout reported for a million to be done with him. Then he signed a co-promotion deal with Match room who Dade Promotions complained and bumped heads with. Now he's with PBC and still Dade Promotions are causing problems and hiding info from their own fighter lying about he amount he's being offered and telling promoters offering him a fight he can't take the fight he is on vacation not in shape. While the trainer and manager are saying he actually lives in the gym and we never heard about the offers and then when we did the numbers were different.

Rigo and other cubans have dealt with this too. Sham Promoters must be extorting these fighters. Making them sign slave contracts that never expire just to come to the US when they don't even put on shows aren't real promoters in the first place. You can't blame this mess on haymon or PBC.

Am I missing something here? I just read today that Ruiz and Some guy I never heard of are the front runners for the fight now which means nobody has signed a contract yet.

Is it too late now for Ortiz to take the fight? Or is this all BS and he juiced to the gills and would never pass a test if he took the fight?

Ortiz is NOT like most of the other Haymon fighters he actually has a promoter...Dade Promotions. They control his rights while Haymon is just a adviser. Other fighters that don't have a promoter haymon calls the shots and is a de facto promoter. But here he can't make a move without Dade Promotions signing off and neither can Ortiz. Dade Promotions aren't even real promoters who put on shows they gangsters that signed him to a extortion deal when he came from Cuba. And basically sell him off to other promoters to put on their cards taking a huge chunk of his purse. Now I see why he only made 500K to fight Wilder. He with Haymon and Haymon get's his guys paid well. Probably was paid 1M and Dade Promotions took half so all Ortiz was left is 500K.
