Read the article man. Ortiz didn't even know about it. Hearn contacted his promoter "Dade Promotions" who tried to wiggle more money out of Hearn. Ortiz and his manager say they would have taken the deal.

It's funny how this comes out after Hearn said he will be exposing them once the AJ opponent has been confirmed. "We better get our excuses ready"

I think from what Hearn said in general he was under the impression Ortiz did not want the fight.

He kept saying he didn't want to put someone in the ring who didn't want to be there or thought they were at a disadvantage. Ortiz's manager seemed at pains to deny this and say he felt AJ having to train at short notice for a southpaw was more than enough compensation.

What's weird is its been known since yesterday that he was getting at least a 5M offer and today significantly more. Also Hearn said he waas open to Ortiz changing his mind today soooooo why is his manager in the slow lane ...could have put something out on social media you can't bypass that promoter but he could hav ebrought more pressure earlier.

Stop pretending. Ortiz's de facto promoter is Haymon. He made the decision.

There's no excuse not to talk to stay in constant communication with your promoter for a fight this big!! That's Ortiz and his trainers fault all day everyday. You mean to tell me that you knew there was a possibility of fighting AJ for the belts and you don't check with your team to see what's going on or how much money is being offered. He needs new promoters. Can't blame Hearn on this one. Sorry Ortiz.

That's most likely the taxes of being a defector unfortunately. They need help getting out of bad situations and have to sign deals with complete snakes in order to have a better life.

If your fighter knows the true revenue, then doing it at the weigh-in would be fine, as it would be no surprise. But if your fighter did NOT know the true figures. then the last thing they want is the fighter upset before the fight, or perhaps even refusing to fight.

The technical language requires the promoter to disclose all revenue, which would include the tv money. Here is the wording from the Act:

‘(b) DISCLOSURES TO THE BOXER- A promoter shall not be entitled to receive any compensation directly or indirectly in connection with a boxing match until it provides to the boxer it promotes--

                  ‘(1) the amounts of any compensation or consideration that a promoter has contracted to receive from such match;

‘(2) all fees, charges, and expenses that will be assessed by or through the promoter on the boxer pertaining to the event, including any portion of the boxer’s purse that the promoter will receive, and training expenses; and

‘(3) any reduction in a boxer’s purse contrary to a previous agreement between the promoter and the boxer or a purse bid held for the event.
                  Awww okay. Good sh^t.

                  Random question.

Since I know you weren't a sham promoter, like Dade appears to me to be, & actually put on shows & as a lil guy in the promotional world would recieve offers from bigger promoters to put your contracted fighters into bigger fights/better opportunities at times what was your feeling on what your take of the full offer should be?

Basically what % did you take off the top & if it depended on the situation what made the % go up or down?

And is there a standard % range of acceptableness for a promoter to take before you are just fleecing the boxer in the industry?

Also what are the benefits, if any, of signing a deal with a promoter who doesn't put on shows as this Dade Promotions seems to be? To me it just looks like you're hiring a middleman where one isn't needed.

This sucks for AJ a lot of things are happening that are out of his control and they have to scramble to salvage whatever is left of his US debut. I just hope they are able to find a decent opponent. Ruiz seems like the best available guy at the moment.

C'mon. Ortiz's de facto (actually all PBC fighters) is Haymon. He made this decision. It surprises me how many people pretend it's really some unknown guy who made this decision.
