Everyone wants their own narrative based upon their biases. Since Floyd ducked Margarito, his fans want to erase Margarito's legacy entirely, and claim that he was never a legitimate threat without plaster or that he used it in every big fight. Yet, mention the illegal IV and those same hypocrites are quick to come to Floyd's defense and say that he was dehydrated and it's not proof he had ever cheated in the past.

Same way they insist Margarito cheated his entire career, they ignore the transformation by Marquez when he suddenly bulked up at age 39, putting on ten pounds of solid muscle while burning thousands of calories per day in training camp. Acne on chest, back, and punching power he never had before was not suspect in the least to the cherry pickers who make excuses for one fighter while discrediting another.

I will say, it is suspect for Margarito once he was caught. We have no way of ever truly knowing whether or not he was cheating prior to the Mosley fight. Margarito & Cotto were allowed to wear 8 oz. gloves for their fight versus the usual 10 oz. for WW. That might explain the pummeling Cotto took, and it may not. We will never know for certain.

Yeah he used plaster wraps against Mosley, a guy he was heavily favored to beat but not Cotto, a guy he was an underdog against.
Face it, Margacheato is a disgrace to the sport and should be removed from the record books.

Yes trainers are always trying to get an age for their fighters with little things, but loading up someone's gloves that's shameful & criminal.
I don't need to stop anything **** Richardson just like your conviced Margarito is a cheater I believe Richardson is a cheater. Now, what did Margarito do in the Cotto fight?

Many people here are saying Tony’s wraps were hard, but not a single person in the ring that night who shook hands with him has ever come forward to say his wraps were hard. Would a guy with hardened wraps be going around letting everyone touch his hands?

People still can’t come to terms that Tony was simply the better chinned fighter, with better stamina. Combine that with Cotto taking numerous punches every single round, and it’s not at all difficult to see why he lost. He struggled with ****ing Torres ffs. Then in the rematch is was pretty evident Cotto was slowing down again before he was gifted his “revenge”.

Oh, you agreed with the rest of that but not the parts both you and I quoted.

            That makes sense.

Do you think his full hand was wrapped with plaster or something? The record shows just the knuckle area. It was the pad under the wrap.

Testimony of Commission Inspector Mike Bray.

Mike Bray, said during questioning that he had seen the pads and that they were "moist and dirty looking with a white substance smeared across the pad, like a cast plaster."

                Also of note.

Both Margarito and Capetillo felt the pads during the hearing, and acknowledged that they were hard. Furthermore, Capetillo acknowledged that they were illegal, and could have resulted in serious bodily injury to Mosley had they been used in the fight.

The only thing they deny is that Margarito knew about the pads being placed in his hand wraps.

I am really unsure why you feel that you are correct about something that neither Margarito nor Capetillo claimed was incorrect.

If you want to argue about if he knew they were placed in his wraps or not, that would be something debatable.

That he had wetted, plaster embedded pads placed in his hand wraps is not disputed by anyone involved in the matter. It was accepted as fact by all involved, including Margarito.

The forensic tests were only to verify that the substance present on the pads was indeed plaster.

There was no need to verify the quantity, as there was enough of it that at the hearings the pads were hard enough that Capetillo had to admit that they could have caused serious injury to Mosley.

It was not only the inspectors that identified the material as probably plaster at the scene, doctors present also identified the material as plaster of the type commonly used in casts.

Furthermore, the basis of Margarito's legal challenge was not that there was no plaster.

"Margarito contends his due process rights were violated because the Commission's January 27, 2009 letter did not give him meaningful advance notice of the charges against him and because the Commission withheld critical evidence before the hearing. We find that no due process violation occurred."

These arguments were basically laughed out of court, and the full opinion of the appeal can be read here.

I have read the commission hearing report before and nowhere does it mention "wet" pads. Not from any of the commission people.
