Whether you love or hate Canelo, it just seems a bad idea to let a boxer(/his promoter) pick his own opponents with a high guarantee. Very few boxers are going to chase high risk guys every time out in that situation.

When I first started posting here 3427 years ago I remember it was seen that the big positive of HBO was that they had most of the big names, but the big negative is that they had certain rights/output deals with promoters that meant meh fights got made because the promoter knew they were getting paid either way. An advantage of Showtime was they just went for certain fights that made sense and so they had a lot of entertaining fights between guys who weren't huge names.

Now we have Hearn, Haymon, Arum, GBP all with output deals and while the cash injection into the sport should be a good thing it seems the overall change is promoters/managers having more power than the TV/stream companies which might not mean better fights getting made.

What do you mean "work with DAZN"?

In the US, ESPN has ESPN+, and ESPN, Showtime, and FOX/FS1 all have parallel platforms to stream their product live to fans wanting to watch off of TV.

Are you talking about some kind of talent swap or something?

Can’t you just sign up for the fights you want to watch and pay the $10 and then unsubscribe and repeat when another fight comes along? Are you forced to subscribe for a year? 6 months?

First, it's very unlikely that Wilder will ever fight on DAZN, more so knowing that he is on the verge of being viable to carry his own PPV (Showtime/CBS have committed too much time/money for Wilder to fight anywhere for less than a friggin fortune), and Tyson Fury may be in a similar situation with the Sky Sports vs BT Sport in the UK (nevermind Fury laying out his initial ask on the fight at 60% to him).

Beyond that, what else are you getting in those other 6 months? Alvarez-Fielding in December, maybe the next round of the WBSS (if the money can be straighted out), a Usyk-TBA fight at some point, Andrade-TBA likely twice, Alvarez-Lemieux (gonna be tough to make with Lemieux again falling out on his way to making 160lbs), Joshua-Whyte, and squash matches for the 4-5 Matchroom USA prospects.

A decent amount of value, but I doubt that, as of this moment (having no idea what the rest of those shows would look like), any of the potential shows would be more enjoyable than just buying the 12 pack, tbh.

In the minority (as usual), but I truly think Canelo has earned an easier fight. Now, he needs a serious fight in 2019, and DAZN has a right to demand it. But this bout this weekend is fine. Let's be serious: Golovkin may sign with ESPN or the PBC, but he will DEMAND that whoever he signs with support a rematch with Alvarez on DAZN. He needs it. He will not lose out on the chance to right the wrong that exists in his mind over how the first 2 were judged. Without that promise, he won't sign long term with anyone. Alvarez is correct on one thing: A second rematch will happen on his terms. Golovkin will not allow his legacy to be those two fights, so he will agree. He isn't the champ anymore, and he is 0-1-1 against him. His only bargaining power lies with DAZN officials wanting that third fight.

Where Jacobs is, I do not know. I think he needs to collect titles, and let the Trip G rematch or Canelo fight happen naturally. He has to understand he is further down the food chain for Alvarez.

Verses basketball is taking over China (1 billion population), India and the developing countries of Africa. I am a football freak. My favorite teams is Man City and Real (Royal) Madrid. I also like Zenit. I was also on the U-21 travel team, we drew with the second best team in the country. I even own a Club Tijuana futbol Jersey. How ever numbers wise it can out grow as works sport just for the facts China, India and Africa hold about 60-70% of the world population. You throw in Canada, USA and the rest basketball will be the most played sport. Mostly every country now plays basketball. I never said it would be the number one sport for every country but if it can be 2 or 3 in Europe and Latin America. And number 1 in China and USA that's a good chuck of popularity.

LeBron James is the second most famous athlete in the world right behind Ronaldo. Out of the top ten by business insider the NBA has 3 players on their. Soccer just two.

ESPNs famous 100, also has LeBron #2 ahead of Newmar and Messi then Durant at #7, Curry at #9.

And if course Brazil is crazy about futbol even though they be ****ing up in the world Cup. Argentina will never win one again for a long time.
Not a clue how they got these figures but apparently even cricket is 3 times more popular, f#uck knows how.

You forget Countries like China have started buying popular football players for hundreds of millions for there developing their own super league. It also growing in America andall the developing countries and continents mentioned above as well as proven by more African nation's being competitive in the World Cup and the decision to increase it from 32 teams to 48 for the next tournament.

Same goes for Jacobs, who, like Golovkin, is a platform free agent. Jacobs’ promotional contract with Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing USA also has expired.

If Jacobs can’t get an Alvarez fight next, he, too, will have to seriously consider offers from Arum and Haymon."

OK, the stars are aligned! Danny come back home to the PBC! Matter of fact, be ringside in the Barclay's next Saturday night, and as Lil' Duval says "Let's start this thing off right..."

Danny Jacobs vs. Jermall Charlo for the IBF Middleweight title! MAN UP! Time is now! J.Razor...Here we go!
How does that pot get split, though?

Charlo is owed his shot at the WBC title, and as much as Oscar may want to fight David Lemieux, the WBC is unlikely to just let that happen, especially after giving him that extra voluntary to fight Fielding.

The Charlo twin bill is in Brooklyn, and Daniel Jacobs lives in Brooklyn so he should pull up. Beyond that, Christmas time in New York has a far better chance of seeing snow than LA, so why not see if Golovkin can pull up too, 😂.

In a similar way to what they did with the Wilder fight, why not try to have as many currently viable middleweights (Sanders, Derevyanchenko, Brant, Sulecki, etc) and former champions (Pavlik, Maravilla, Iran Barkley, etc) at the event too.

Jermall Charlo gets his WBC shot, you set the stage for Jacobs-Golovkin (even if that means both get stay busy fights), and then you get the other fights.
