DAZN is going to need a couple of big PPV events to cover the cost of that contract. That's why Canelo has been calling out Floyd lately, he needs a marquee name to cover the tab of that huge contract. I'm guessing their PR team will need to start hyping up prospective opponents in order to build interest in a fight, the way PBC did with Ortiz and Guerrero. They'll need to work with TR and hype up Zurdo for a Mexican show down. Probably try to lure more WW into moving up too.

Charlo is the WBC interim champ and will become Canelo's mandatory. Andrade and Jacobs both are champs he can unify with. Canelo has names on his record but lets not pretend that they were the best out there at the time he fought him. GGG, Lara and Trout are his best wins, everyone other name on his record is either old and shot or a smaller fighter.
But who have they fought. Name some good recognizable names. They aren't fighting each other that's why you can't name any. They just aren't fighting the best in their division, themselves. If they won't even fight themselves, why would canelo. He doesnt need them, let's be honest, they need him.

Canelo already fought the best of the best, these guys are good fighters but with no championship level experience, they have no names! Who's name have they taken?! Kahn had a name and fought the best even thought he didn't win. Those other guys you mentioned that canelo beat, he fought then in between his great fights. What great fights have Andrade got? Charlo? I'm so sorry but you are confused on who is the experienced great fighter in this scenario.
Canelo isn't about to do the bidding on behalf of a flock of cowards who won't even fight each other.

Great question! I don't think anyone expected Canelo to get $365 million just like that. He'll certainly have to keep winning and looking good for it to pay off. Which is another why this is such a pivotal moment in his career. We might very well see Canelo's best fights in this stage of his career because he has to live up to the lucrative contract he signed.

But the question of who will select his opponents is a good one. I don't know if there are pro wrestling fans here but for example WWE's Smackdown just signed a deal with FOX for about a $1 billion. Word is that now FOX is wanting to influence the direction of the show. So the WWE might very well acquiesce because of how much money FOX has invested. So the same can be asked about Canelo and Golden Boy. Will DAZN be an influence on the product outside of simply streaming it?

LeBron James is the second most famous athlete in the world right behind Ronaldo. Out of the top ten by business insider the NBA has 3 players on their. Soccer just two.

ESPNs famous 100, also has LeBron #2 ahead of Newmar and Messi then Durant at #7, Curry at #9.

And if course Brazil is crazy about futbol even though they be ****ing up in the world Cup. Argentina will never win one again for a long time.
Got your point, yeah I think it's gonna become 2nd biggest worldwide.

I don't care what the media says, this deal will not last past a year or two. DAZN would never commit that kind of cash without having any sort of out. Anyone really think they just signed a deal guaranteeing Canelo over $300mm while he does Eddie Hearn specials for the next however many years? LOL GTFOH.

Eddie Hearn has the worst matchmaking in the business. Oscar needs to distance himself if wants this deal to stick at all..

Quite an interesting topic, and even more intriguing unfolding situation for Canelo, GBP, and DAZN.

It looks like they didn't anticipate all the possible moves on the board - plus the sometimes contemptuous way Canelo has treated the sport and his opponents almost like toys to be played with when he feels like it in the last few years continues to confuse us all as to who and what weight he will campaign at.

It could all backfire on him. and I feel zero sympathy. If he chooses to cherrypick opponents in the more nuanced way that Mayweather has taught the current generation to, we could see about 3-4 meaningful, 50-50 fights in that 11, with the rest being against the likes of the Fieldings and Lemieux's out there.

Canelo has actually single-handedly soured the once great anticipation and excitement that surrounded the middleweight division by introducing all this 'we'll see', and 'we don't know', which means we don't even know if the guy who has had a total of 2 actual middleweight fights and give or take another 2 catchweight fights from 155-164.5 will be fighting at 160 if it doesn't suit him.

If he's currently considered the best fighter, what's wrong with finally throwing down the gauntlet to Charlo? Hell, if Boo-Boo is too awkward for him, take on Rob Brant.
I wouldn't mind seeing him face David Lemieux, but everybody knows that all you have to do beat him is get up on your toes and box.
Poor Canelo. That 365 million is going to come in handy as a source of consolation if he runs through eleven bums or subpar opponents in the next 5 years. at 2 fights a year, I'm sure he's not too worried, it's the investor's that'll be doing the worrying as Canelo has demonstrated he doesn't really give a hoot what we think.
