Maybe we will see Ortiz/Joyce? Not like Joyce has the time to come up slow like most new pros do...
I can't see how Ortiz's people would take that fight, tiny money with high risk. Makes no sense to take that fight, i imagine it will be another mismatch while Ortiz waits for another title shot...his management surely know taking an L against a contender or a 5 fight novice like Joyce is far too dangerous considering his age, he would have to be rebuild and work his way back up the rankings which at 40...or w/e his real age is, is not feasible.

Joe Joyce would massacre Luis Ortiz. If Ortiz is thinking about retirement, that's the only way I see him accepting that fight.

His real age is his real age man. He wasn’t 13 in the amateurs lol

But I know what you’re saying. Obviously take it with a grain of salt, I’ll just play devils advocate though and say that Ortiz’s people may also know he doesn’t have much time, and that’s a huge showing on a PPV card. Even though Ortiz is ranked #3 HW right now, he’s unranked by the IBO, WBA and IBF...so anything is possible

I could see it being like Washington, Travis Kaufman or Charles Martin (if he is ready and wants it) or an outside guy like Takam or Duahaupus could also work.

Nothing major but a fight to keep him in the mix.

When I'm talking about fights that make sense, I'm not talking about politics, or what excuses people will have to avoid the fight. The fight makes sense for all the reasons I said, it makes sense for boxing the sport, it makes sense for the PPV event, and it makes sense for the fans. Why do I care that Breazeale wants to hide behind a mando position? How does a fighter hiding behind a mando position make sense? Since when do fans care about what managers want to do with titles?

He would have just fought AJ as the WBA mando if he hadn't jumped ship on Hearn and gone after Wilder instead.

Joyce has said he wants to fight Ortiz, so I guess it's up to Haymon.

I think it should be Takam or Duhaupas. Those guys are fringe contenders on the outside looking it at this stage of their careers. Both are durable & will fight anyone. It would be a good payday & if they can pull an upset they are right in line for another big fight. Neither guy is giving up a good a rank or position in the pecking order so why not? Both guys would stand in there with Ortiz & slug it out. I’d expect Ortiz to win but he is older than both & neither is afraid to mix it up. I said earlier I wonder if Oscar Rivas would take that fight?
