When floyd chose not to fight Margarito and Williams, it was called smart business. As usual, the stance changes depending on who is doing what.

Not when the biggest payday of their careers are on the line. In fact, many guys who have earned a shot at a big fight have taken a warm up fight with a halfway decent fighter have seen their big payday go up in smoke due to losing. Vanes was a lot less of a threat than top ranked contender Derv.

This scared talk is f.ucking ******ed though , elite fighters aren’t scared Canelo wasn’t scared of Gennady , Gennady wasn’t scared of Ward , Danny wasn’t scared of Thurman or Lucas , Mayweather wasn’t scared of PAC
yea, and meanwhile ggg probably pulled in more money in 2 fights than ward did in most of his career at the top level. it was definitely the right move.

I feel like this is going a bit too far now. So what if ward would beat golovkin? Does that make him a. Bad fighter?

ward is naturally much bigger fighter and his style is very akward, but lets not pretend that Kovalev didn’t beat him in the 1st fight. 30 year old Gennady would be a significant underdog, but he would have some chance of winning - 30:70 IMO.

now a better question is how would Floyd that beat Canelo do against 30 year Gennady - that would be fascinating to see.

GGG's side was willing, and made an offer at a catch weight of 164 lbs, the middle ground between 160 and 168.

                  Ward's side refused.

                  GGG ducked Ward doe...

No true fan of the sport ever accused Ward of ducking Golovkin. I get it; Golovkin lost officially to Canelo, you hate him and you're glad he lost. No need to make up stories to degrade the man further.
