You would have to have the IQ of a dead Frog to think that GGG would risk his multi-million dollar shot at Canelo to fight Derev on short notice.

All that just to say Ward turned down a fight at 164. “I’ll fight floyd at 160”

Andre Ward was an ELITE fighter. He would have easily bamboozled Gennady Golovkin and butted the sheet out of him. GGG and his fans would have been left nursing a TKO defeat, and crying about the roughness of the beating.

Derevyanchenko was a special scenario. You should be able to admit that. Derevyanchenko is a high risk, low reward guy.
Fighting guys like that on short notice is not really common.

Not a boxing historian, but i dont think it is that common to fight a top10 guy on short notice.
Lewis gets a lot of credit for me for taking on vitali on short notice even though lewis was at the end of his career.
Takam replacing pulev was also a decent late replacement, but other than that, i cant recall legit opponents on short notice from memory.
You are welcome to prove me wrong, because i didnt really do any research.

But what im certain is that not a lot of guys would have taken on golovkin early in his career as a replacement when he was considered high risk and low reward.
Cant imagine sturm, martinez, chavez jr and the other champs at that time taking on golovkin om short notice.

Watching his performances and training videos, we can already compare the vast difference in his speed today and 6 yrs ago.

It’s like saying oscar wouldn’t perform better in his prime against Floyd when he was able to hang in there and win 4 rounds when he was 34 and inactive.

Seriously no pressure attacker in history have gone better at 36 than they were, lets say 30.
30 year old ggg looked horrific against Kassim Ouma, 36 year old version is light years better. The older version would've beaten Ouma much more easily.

Isn’t that the kinda thing elite fighters do all the time?

ggg has known about Ward since his amateur days and that is where the fear began. Seeing an undersized guy like Ward going to LHW in the amateurs and defeating 6'5 monsters put the fear into ggg.

ggg saved his career ducking him, although I'm not sure I've ever heard him actually call Ward out. I think that was Sanchez because when asked about Ward ggg was all "no ward too much for me"

Pay no attention to this racist scumbag. He’s so butt hurt over his man crush (ggg) ducking a Ward fight he’ll post anything negative about Ward. He once posted that Ward was a wife beater and claimed he had the internet links to back it up. I’ve pressed him repeatedly for those links and to date he’s produced zero.
