I just rewatched the fight, was impressed with Wilder's confidence to recover from Ortiz's punches. His punches are dynamite but his technique is still not great. That's why I don't think he gets past Fury.
How highly do you rate Wilder's win against Ortiz?

It's the best win anyone has had at heavyweight since Fury beat Wlad (who I maintain was toast by that point, but Fury dethroned the king).
Ortiz is a rare beast. He's a defensively sound, intelligent southpaw with knockout power. You don't see that at heavyweight. You can count the number of decent, well rounded southpaw heavyweights in my lifetime on one hand, and I'm pushing 30.
That's why nobody wanted to fight him, that's why he gave Wilder so much trouble. Ortiz was consistently able to disrupt Wilder's jab and thus the timing on his best combination, his 1-2 jab-straight right.
Fury may be able to avoid Wilder's punches for a while but Wilder has better cardio than prime Fury, let alone current Fury. And Fury will land on Wilder, but unlike Ortiz he doesn't have the power to hurt Wilder.
If Fury comes into this fight in fantastic shape and sharp skills, he may win 7-10 rounds in a row before he gets knocked out.
If Fury comes into the fight sluggish in any way, Wilder puts him to sleep inside 5.
Either way, Fury is getting knocked out. -
I was impressed by the way Wilder was able to recover and close the show. Especially, after a bout with the flu and coming in so light. Wilder has heart. This is why I changed my mind and give him an edge over Joshua.Comment

Took six rounds for the fight to actually start. He looked just ok against a fat 38 year old with no signature wins.Comment

2nd best win out of the current flock of HW fighters today, 1st being Fury's against decade-long reigning Klitschko. When you consider that Wilder came in at 214 LBS and exhibited flu symptoms that could clearly be seen in his ESPN interview just a week before the fight, the margin between the two wins is even closer. Ortiz is a stylistic nightmare for most if not all of the top 10 in the HW division, a reactive counter punching southpaw with power and a strong inside game, and he disarmed a sick Wilder's jab for 5+ rounds. Hurt him bad. Yet he couldn't get the job done, all because of Wilder's will to win. 2018 fight of the year IMO.Comment
