    Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I knew folks couldn't help talking about the extra 20 seconds Wilder got before round 8.

That's a NY State boxing commission thing, and they have actually been pretty consistent doing it.

Would I have allowed it if I was refereeing or an official at ringside?

    Hell no.

But, most folks don't register the fact that when the ref asked for Wilder to be examined, Deontay was standing in the middle of the ring, off his stool, and eager to resume.

He'd already recovered and didn't need any extra time.

His best win. Wish he had stepped up comp way b4 his 40th fight though. I think thats his biggest knock. Other then that, no matter how crazy he fights, he has the ultimate equalizer

Ortiz failed a drug test and was then knocked the fuck out, but nonetheless none of the other top guys will go within ten miles of him.

That's as glowing an endorsement of an opponent as you'll find.

no thats the entire reason it was bogus. when ortiz was hurt they didn't lift a finger to "check him out" when wilder might have needed time they gave it to him. its classic a-side behavior manipulating the rules to their favor and it tainted the fight but as long as you get the win no one cares about hte rules. just look at wards career...

Ortiz is a stylistic nightmare for most if not all of the top 10 in the HW division, a reactive counter punching southpaw with power and a strong inside game, and he disarmed a sick Wilder's jab for 5+ rounds. Hurt him bad. Yet he couldn't get the job done, all because of Wilder's will to win. 2018 fight of the year IMO.
There's no way on this planet that beating Ortiz is better than beating Wladimir Klitschko.

I also think King Kong destroys the rest of the Heavyweights besides MAYBE...MAYBE AJ. But King Kong would crush guys like Parker Whyte and Miller and I think he would do it EASILY with respects to those guys.

He is no question Top 3 Heavyweight at the moment behind only AJ and Wilder IMO!

People call him "OLD" but are afraid to fight him!
Based on what? He was grassfed guys like Malik Scott and Dave Allen and stunk the place out.

I just watched the fight again myself.
Lol. Deontay does get excited when he has someone hurt but wow does he have some power in that right hand.

wlad was coming off a loss! ortiz was undefeated! this is the floyd mayweather effect in action. its the creation of a fantasy world where you can hype up guys and pretend they are amazing when they are unproven and you can completely dismiss guys simply cause they have lost. although in reality you are more likely to take losses the more risks you take and so fighters like floyd know this and act accordingly.

for example lets say ortiz fights a couple more years against crap competition and never loses again. the wilder fanboy would spin this into "ONLY MANY TO EVER BEAT ORTIZ" when someone reasonable would be like well thats a decent win but unfortunately ortiz never did much in boxing. you can never take the fantasy away from them. its their lil friend.

Solid win. Wilder was sick before the fight and came underweight.

If AJ or Whyte would had fought Ortiz then it would had been and excellent win for some people here. Because it was Wilder they minimize it.
