the only way you can become " lineal " champ is by beating a unified (UNDISPUTED, so..... all 4 recognized titles) champ..... and Fury is the only guy who did that

    the IBO doesn't count

the only fight that could currently achieve that is Wilder/Joshua..... until that happens, Fury is the lineal champ

I accept the argument that Fury retired..... but it is a weak argument, because nobody thought that Fury had really retired
I was joking. Tyson Fury is lineal, these guys think its a matter of attrition or building up resume and collecting belts, its not : Fury's 'retirement' was forced on him by UKAD. Thats the only argument they got, and obviously hollow given the circumstances.

Let this thread be a prime example of how much of a crock of garbage the "lineal title" is.

It's a hypothetical title with no actual rules, where people can't even agree on basic principles of what makes a Champion.

It's about as real as God and freedom.

              Based on what, exactly?

There's a few pages worth here that back up the point I made.

Pacquiao-> Horn -> Crawford, making Terence Crawford the current lineal champion.

But nobody in the right mind considered Horn the lineal champion for beating Pacquiao (or rather, being gifted a decision, but that's neither here nor there).

when was Pacquiao ever the lineal welterweight champ ?

look, this is just a silly argument to me

                Fury.....
                1) held all 4 recognized titles
                2) was never beaten
                3) only retired in the minds of people who wanted him gone lol
                4) will be in action this month

he is not one of the two best heavyweights on the planet, and may not even be the 3rd best heavyweight on the planet..... proving that lineage is highly overrated

my bottom line on this is..... really, who cares ?

NOBODY else could possibly lay claim to being undisputed, or lineal..... Wilder/Joshua need to fight in order to determine that

who cares what Fury is until he fights/beats one of them ?
