Anthony Joshua will never be an ATG. Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, a prime Mike Tyson, Joe Louis, Rid**** Bowe, Lenox Lewis and several others would dust AJ's britches or KO him. You might take note that except for Lennox Lewis all the names I mentioned were American heavyweights.Wilder's options are limited, fact is all roads lead to Joshua when it comes down to the current heavyweight division. If he wants to make serious money or create some kind of legacy beyond being a paper champion he needs the Joshua fight.
The only other fights that are lucrative for Wilder are Whyte and Povetkin and he's shown no interest in fighting them and even if he did the payday and the prestige pales in comparison to what a win over Joshua would bring.
Sure he could keep on fighting other Haymon fighters like he has been doing all this time, but with his lavish lifestyle he's going to quickly burn through the 1-2 mill paydays that brings and the only reason he is getting as much attention as he is right now is because of this potential super fight and Wilder definitely likes the attention he gets from this proposed fight. If this fight falls through and doesn't look like ever happening and Joshua moves onto Fury, he'll get pushed to the sidelines as all the media focuses on Joshua/Fury. He's only relevant because Joshua is currently relevant.
But on the flip side, the pressure is on Joshua far more to become undisputed. Peoples expectations of him are higher than Wilder. Nobody expects Wilder to go onto become an ATG, he's never shown that potential, too protected, too ungainly looking in the ring, his performances too spotty from being wobbled, dropped by journeymen, out boxed by average skilled boxers like Washington. Joshua on the other hand has the expectations of a nation on his shoulders, while Wilder doesn't have that pressure from the US public as most don't even know who he is.Comment

Deontay is not big at all, don't believe the hype on here. Al Haymon doesn't know how to promote any of his fighters maybe except for Broner who basically promotes him self with his bs , keith who barley fights and cherry picker Garcia that's it. None of them are household names.Thats a great idea, but where would be neutral enough for them to make good money from the fight? And the sad bit is not a lot of people know who he is in america.
My american brother who doesn't follow boxing knew who Anthony Joshua was, but he doesn't know who Wilder is, I know not a lot happens in arizona but i was surprised when i asked him randomly. And his answer was who was that.
Dubai, Nigeria, South Africa, Bermuda, Hong Kong, Macau (which topped Vegas as the ******** capital). Are all good starters which has millionaires, billionaires , English speaking, businesses capitals, and big airports. Non bias. Maybe Nigeria could mean more towards Joshua but I would bet they both have west African roots so it's neutral. This is the only way it can go down. Neutral countries.Comment

Wilder's future is going to be fine now that Hearn is working for him. If it wasn't for Hearn and AJ, Wilder wouldn't have 50 mil to play with. It's called equity, like owning a house. The backers are there, the money is there, the only holdup is Hearn and his pet chicken.Comment

Neither fighter is absolutely confident about this fight. Wilder know he doesn't have the technical skills of Joshua and Joshua knows know Wilder has athleticism and punching power on his side.
This will be a great and exciting fight "if and only if" the judging is unbiased and the referee is truly neutral and prone to letting fighters fight their way out of difficulties. Without the right judges and referee this fight means very little to true boxing fans.Comment

So the backers are going to put 50 Million in all of Wilders fights bc of Hearn?Wilder's future is going to be fine now that Hearn is working for him. If it wasn't for Hearn and AJ, Wilder wouldn't have 50 mil to play with. It's called equity, like owning a house. The backers are there, the money is there, the only holdup is Hearn and his pet chicken.
Thats fantastic news his future is set !

Wilder couldn't fight Martin due to his mando being ordered already. Martin win the belt on Wilders undercard. Martin's manager admitted that they took the highest offer available anyway which was Hearns $5M+ offer. As for Parker, recall Wilder broke his hand and tore his bicep against the Povetkin replacement. He returned in Feb 2017 to defeat Washington and immediately called out Parker. Who was sked to fight Fury. Fury pulled out and Wilder tried to step in but was rebuffed.Putting his name out there, once he won the WBC title i think they could have done better with him, he speaks the language, he punches like a mule, he is tall and can talk trash. He is a promoters dream, they had chances to buy that Martin belt, Parker belt in his career time.
Its only NOW that they are moving him commercially, if he was from Bulgaria then i could have excuse his team, but he is American. If people think his team have done the best they could for him in 10 years as a pro then they are kidding themselves.
Maybe his team didn't believe in him...Maybe
As far as moving him commercially, there was no way he was gonna get commercial love in the US with Ward who is as clean cut as they come out there and Jon Jones prior to recent incidents. Besides, it's tough to market fighters in the US.Comment
