The only definitive piece of information in Hearn’s offer was the amount of money he is willing to offer Wilder: $12.5 million.
And with the offer comes a caveat: Take it or leave it.

Take it or leave it? Are you serious?
If that was the case he would have moved onto the Povetkin fight because Wilders 10 days to respond were up. Why would he initiate a meeting if he thought Wilder was not going to accept?

1. There was no 24hr deadline or take it or leave from Hearn. There was a 10 day expiry on the deal. Wilders people say you have 24hrs.
2. Wilder never even responded to the offer, of course no contract was sent. Hearn responded to Wilders offer on the same day asking for details.
3. Joshua generates enough money to pay Wilder a 12.5m fee. Wilder doesn't generate enough to pay Joshua 50m hence why Matchroom need to see the numbers more than Wilder would IF HE HAD REQUESTED.

I'm basing it on Wilders track record of not generating that money. You know, statistics?
Hearn is also powerful, but I wouldn't expect Wilder to accept a fight with Whyte for $20m without seeing the details. As Whyte has never generated that money Wilder would have an equal right to want to know HOW he is paid and by who seeing as the fight itself doesn't generate that money.
You can't just attach a rich man's name to potential funds, that's not how deals are done.

Wilder's Confident
Originally posted by JRS1980 View PostBecause that guaranteed money should be placed in an escrow account. What happens if the contract says AJ is to be payed by the newly formed Wilder LLC. The fight happens. It is not as successful as they had planned and Wilder LLC decides to file for bankruptcy. AJ will have to file a lawsuit and will likely not see the money that is being promised. That's just one possible scenario of how things could play out, but it is why they need to know where the money is coming from. Because in all likelihood, this fight will not generate enough money to pay AJ a 50m guarantee, and still pay Wilder. PPV provider takes half off the top. Most people forget that for some reason.
As far as the $50 million guarantee for Joshua it would be escrowed for him and not impacted by the fights financial success or lack of it.
Its only a WIN financially for Joshua and he will be a fool not to accept the offer,

The offer may or may not legit. I believe the intent of the offer is to expose Hearn's lack of confidence that Joshua will not lose. Think about how bad it would make Wilder look if Joshua accepted and the $50 offer was exposed as phony. Plain and simple Hearn and Joshua lose face by not accepting the offer. Not accepting is tantamount to saying we think we would lose the championship and the big money fights we are now making.

Everything Hearn did, Finkel did back. Let the business men play their games. Enjoy the fight if it gets made. It's ridiculous watching fans act like they are suddenly experts on fight negotiations while getting third hand information from spin doctors.
