They need to fight. We obviously know that has to happen. But Wilder has it exactly backwards. I’ve been to sports bars in Vegas, LA, and southern Florida in the past 6 months during fights, and probably 75% of casual boxing fans here know Joshua. Maybe 10-20% know Wilder. But I still think that fight needs to happen in Vegas. There’s just a different level of excitement to a Vegas heavyweight championship fight than there is in a soccer stadium with 90,000 people. More people doesn’t make it more exciting (to me). It seems impersonal for boxing.

Yet he earns more than ten times as much per fight. Keep trolling Wilder, you're going on 40 fights without a household name on your resume.Comment

Yep.
He's turning into the international face of Under Armour because here in Sydney I've seen massive posters of him in the shop front of our biggest sporting goods retailer.
If he were to become the undisputed heavyweight champion then I can easily see him becoming a transcendent superstar that even casuals know of globally.Comment

I think the fight should take place in the U.S. In Las Vegas to be exact and I believe that Anthony Joshua should get the lion share of the purse; Perhaps 60/40. I think that's fair because with all things considering, AJ is a popular celebrity in his own right; Particularly in his own country. Where as Deontay Wilder is not in his. Moreover, due to his domestic popularity, AJ is going to import a considerable amount of boxing fans to the MGM grand in Las Vegas from the U.K. Hell, it may even be a pro Anthony Joshua crowd for all we know..Comment

Wouldn't the most logical thing be to compare their most recent fights?
Joshua's most recent fight on Showtime did 350,000 while Wilder's did 900,000.
So no, *you lie* because the numbers clearly show that Wilder is more popular in the US, as he should be. That's not a criticism of AJ. AJ is far more popular in his home country than Wilder is in his home country. AJ is the much bigger star worldwide.
So why do you feel the need to blatantly lie about which fighter is more popular in the US?Comment

yeah bro out of what 350million americans one million tuned in. He is really well known here. I can walk outside in downtown LA and randomly ask 100 people who deontay wilder is and i bet at most 1 person would knowWilder is likely more popular in the UK than the US to casuals too. But his popularity is starting to increase stateside. A KO of Ortiz will go a long way.
He'll will likely register Showtime's highest viewership since the "free trial" era in a few weeks. I'm still shocked by his ratings for Stiverne II. That number was the second highest of 2017 at 887,000, second only to Garcia-Broner at 937,000. So people are tuning in for him.Comment

Hes still not very well known if we are honest. I can go outside and walk downtown LA and ask 100 people who Deontay Wilder is and at least 99 won't know. They won't know who Joshua is either but that isn't the point. Joshua at home is well known, has several endorsements, fights on big ppvs and thats why he makes 10x more per fight than WilderWilder has defended his world championship on free network TV multiple times, garnering millions of viewers.
Wilder stars in a very popular cable TV reality show.
Wilder is clearly far more well known in this country than AJ is. Just as AJ is far more well known in his country.
The idea that nobody knows Wilder in the US is pretty silly considering his history as a strong ratings draw. Wilder's knockout of Stiverne went viral and helped make him far more well known as well.Comment

that is a bad comparison you are using to try to enhance your argument. If Wilder fought that Stiverne rematch in a matinee time slot less thank 350,000 people would have tuned in to watch it. Why don't you stop tweaking numbers for your biasWouldn't the most logical thing be to compare their most recent fights?
