"Errol is a tremendous talent but I don’t rate him over Vasyl Lomachenko. If everyone was the same size I don’t know if anyone could beat Lomachenko. He’s like a weird type of good in my opinion. When I assess p4p status one of the things I do is decide who I would bet my money on in a fight if everything were even as far as size. At this moment I wouldn’t bet against Lomachenko and I’m a gambler!"

Yeah that was strange. It's almost like they forgot they he lost to a journeyman at the time in Salido. Lmao. Im surprised Breadman is on Loma's nuts like that along with everyone else. I would just like to see him fight guys in their prime..same size and let's see what happens. Fight Mikey Garcia at 135. Or he could really get his head torn off and go up to 140 to fight Regis Prograis...who is about to beat the dog **** out of Postol on March 9th.Comment

Chad Dawson was knocked out in sparring leading up to the Ward fight. And Edwin Rodriguez gets to be considered a "solid win" now? And Froch and old Kessler are Hall of Fame level wins? It's just crazy how far the bar gets lowered to accommodate these establishment star North American boxers. Then Breadman complains about the mentality of this era when he is one of the people to blame for that weak mentality (i.e. low bar) when he is constantly lowering the bar for the boxers he likes.
Keep the bar high across the board, and tell the truth these situations like that Andre Ward retired before attaining a single legitimate win against a prime undrained A-level boxer, same as Floyd did, and the old school mentality will come back to boxing. But keep lowering the bar for these guys, and this is what you get.
I mean, why would modern boxers go above and beyond to try to clear a high bar like the old school boxers did if you're going to give them just as much credit, and call them "All Time Greats," just because they cleared a very low bar by beating B-level and past prime opposition? If Breadman and the rest of the modern boxing media are going to induct you into the Hall of Fame just for fighting one B-level or C-level opponent per year, and then retiring with less than 35 fights (and most of those as a prospect against no hopers, so really no more than even 10-12 fights against even B-level guys your entire career), then why bother actually doing anything truly great when you will get all the credit for being great without having to go any of the trouble of proving it?
You come here talking about certain fighters beating B and C level fighters and they are considered great but fail to mention how Loma is a legend for beating an unproven Russell JR. for a vacant title who at the time was fighting nothing but TBAs and his biggest win is against a shopworn Johnny Gonzalez. He beat the weakest champ in Rocky Martinez who had been KOd by Mikey and given a gift win against Salido. He then beats Marriaga and Sosa who were smaller and came of losses. LOma will probably beat Beltran for the 135 title next and people will call him a 3 division champ, but yet **** on Broner being a 4 division champ, when both Loma and Broner didn't really beat the best champ for those titles. Loma is a great talent, lets see if he challenges himself and proves it first. And I don't care if he only has 11 fights, he turned pro at 25 and chose to stay in the amateurs beating up on teenagers instead of turning pro.Comment

Kafkod- But two questions for you..can we blame Ward? And who was Bute anyway? We can’t blame Ward because Bute chose to fight Froch. He felt the fight was more winnable and financially lucrative. Who was Bute anyway? The fact that he lost against the same guy Ward destroyed and the first Super Six fighter he went against should remove Butes name from legacy discussion. Afterall he was only a de facto champion because the best were all tied up contractually in the Super Six. My eyes say Kessler and Direll would have also beaten Bute. You guys would have a point if Bute beat Froch or made it close. He was knocked out in 5 and has not beat anyone else of note. Since then he loss to Pascal, DeGale, Jack (Changed from robbery to DQ) and Alvarez. Let’s keep it real Bute was champion under the most su****ious circumstances. I don’t think he adds or subtracts from Ward’s legacy if we are being fair.Comment

Bute was unbeaten at that point and regarded very highly. Many rated him the best SMW in the world, and he was favourite to beat Froch, even away from home.
So Froch got the credit for beating the boogie man, not Ward. There is no doubt at all that beating Bute enhanced Froch's legacy, and it would have done the same for Ward's if he'd taken the fight.Last edited by kafkod; 02-01-2018, 01:50 PM.Comment
