As has been explained many times, this "WBC WBA IBF" account is operated by three previous boxingscene posters. One of us has ties to the WBC, one of us has ties to the WBA, one of us has ties to the IBF, so we decided to team up since so many of our posts involved sanctioning body politics.
Mikey is not an ego guy. He is all business. If Golden Boy was able to get HBO to pay so much for the fight that Mikey's 50% was worth more than the lion's share he'd get from fighting Easter on SHO, he was going to go with the larger offer even if Linares didn't really deserve 50%.
However, inevitably, because Linares was taking 50%, Mikey's share of the HBO offer ended up being less than his (lion's) share of the SHO offer. So he took the SHO offer. Had the Linares fight not been 50/50 and actually been a split that better reflected the value of each fighter, then Mikey's share would have been larger than the Easter fight and he would have taken the Linares fight.
So you can't blame Mikey for the fight not happening when GB's offer was less money than the fight Mikey's had sitting on the table for months. What you can blame is GB's offer, since 50/50 isn't a true reflection of the individual worth of each fight.
We agree with you that most "experts" would probably think Linares is the tougher fight. We personally believe Easter is the tougher fight. Mikey personally believes he wins either fight handily. As for how we'd know Mikey's thoughts on those fights, it's not something that would be appropriate to post publicly. Mikey's camp is pretty talkative if you know who to ask.
Agree on bigger name. Agree to disagree on tougher fight. But regardless, one fight paid more than the other.
And almost as importantly, the fight that paid more didn't require crossing enemy lines where you'd be at risk of losing and having zero leverage to get a fair deal for a rematch. When you stick with the Haymon universe and fight other Haymon fighters, you know you never have to worry about getting boxed out of the picture.
And how do you know it was the 50-50 is what killed it mikey never said that?

And how do you know Mikey is = convinced that he can beat both? Most experts I believe would think Linares has a tougher style for mikey then Easter.
But I agree Linares would look better on resume.Because at this moment he is bigger name and tougher fight.
