GGG's Legacy

Yeah in hindsight it's easy to make it seem like Mosley was an old man that he cherry picked.
But before the fight was announced lots of people were like oh dam Mayweather pickin on these lightweights... no way he wants it with the guy that beat up Margarito.Last edited by BrometheusBob.; 10-04-2017, 12:37 AM.Comment

He will be remembered as a decent fighter who didn't dare to be great so like Guerrero or Ortiz or hatton or bertoWhat will Golovkin's place in history look like if he defeats Canelo next May and then knocks out Floyd Mayweather the following September? Because anyone that doesn't think Floyd will return and try to school GGG (like he said would be easy for him to do) if he wins is being naïve.
I can only imagine how he would look if he then lured Andre Ward out of retirement and whooped his ass, too. Imagine taking both Floyd and Ward's undefeated streaks.

Very easy.
Everyone said Floyd was **** scared of Mosley and was ducking him.
When Mosley got in the ring after the Marquez fight and confronted him, everyone said Mayweather was scared to death.
Mayweather called into a radio show and had a 20 minute argument with RA The Rugged Man where he said he was scared and ducking Shane.
Freddie Roach said the same thing in his satelliete interview with Brian Kenny and said "there's no way he will fight Shane" this was around the same time that Pacquaio and his team turned down Mosley.Comment

All of this!
It's like folks have amnesia.
Everyone forgets how at least half of the folks Floyd faced were supposed to be the guy that finally shut Money up.
That will happen when a fighter makes it a habit of matching himself with a champion and/or a guy coming of a KO/biggest win.
Floyd regularly did that.Comment

Golovkin fanboy: Triple G is ranked #1 by Ring Magazine! Whew!
Me: I don't think he should be, it's just one opinion.
GFB: You're just hating on Triple G!
Me: No I am not. I just don't think he belongs on the list like Ward or Floyd.
GFB: Floyd's resume is overated! Who did he fight?
Me: Most of the guys he fought in the last decade were on Ring's P4P list.
GFB: The Ring's ratings are shyt! How could anyone believe them?Comment

The point I am making is you can tell the difference between the fights Golovkin was simple selling wolf tickets for and the fights he really wanted.
He really wanted a shot at Cotto or Canelo.
He knew that fight had been talked about for years.
When he saw Cotto destroy Maravilla, he knew the showdown might be for the lineal and the real WBC strap.
So Golovkin's very next fight scheduled after Cotto's win was with Rubio for the interim belt, making him a mandatory.
Golovkin made no such moves to line up a fight with Floyd.
All he did was blow smoke, hoping an A-side with no professional or financial reason to fight a guy who walks around 2 weight classes higher would feel charitable.
He didn't really want the fight, at least not like he wanted other fights.Comment

Yeah, Floyd was technically two weight classes below him and Golovkin was fixated on still conquering his own division. I don't see this as being something to criticize him over. The point I am making is you can tell the difference between the fights Golovkin was simple selling wolf tickets for and the fights he really wanted.

If he was trying real hard to push for a fight with Floyd, people would knock him for trying to call out a much smaller man and accuse him of dodging the fighters in his own weight class.Last edited by LockardTheGOAT; 10-04-2017, 10:42 AM.Comment
