tarver and johnson both beat him and he wasnt that old really, was 35. 1 year older than kovalev but people wont chalk that loss down to him being old and past prime. and at the end of the day they fought (at similar age) and joe boxed rings around him, won every round apart from the knockdown. joe was just a smarter and better fighter than jones jr
Let me give you an idea on how great Roy Jones Jr really was

Jones had no competitive fights in his prime outside of Griffin which again ended inconclusively.
Calzaghe lost to Robin ReidIMO and many other peoples opinion so yeah I don't think that's "unbeatable"
Roy Jones was 40 and Calzaghe was 36 for starters and secondly people age differently. Jones was shot when they fought and Calzaghe wasn't
Calzaghe isn't even close to Roy Jones level. He isn't even in the same stratosphere.Comment

Nobody in their right mind thinks that Marciano would have beaten Ali at his best.
Floyd Mayweather is unbeaten, Tommy Hearns lost 5 times.
Nobody in their right mind thinks that Floyd would have beaten Tommy at his best.
Joe was a great fighter, but his record of 46-0 isn't that impressive.
He sc****d wins over Reid and a 43 year old Bernard, and his biggest wins were over Lacy and Kessler.
He wasn't unbeatable.
Many other fighters could have gone 46-0 with those same opponents.
How can you type that he'd have been too clever for Roy, when we both know you never saw Roy's prime?
He wouldn't have been too clever.
Roy was on another level when he was prime.

Right but he was passed it then in those fights.

Huge fan of Roy, but you are overrating his resume, he fought in the era of Kalambay, Nunn, McClellan, Norris, Jackson, Graham, Barkley, Benn, Eubank, Watson, Etc... And he didn't faced them, like Eubank said, him and Jones were avoiding the biggest challenges.Comment

Jones gets my respect he's official for all the obvious reasons but he got my upmost respect when I thought he was slacking, then he jumped up to heavy to grab a belt from ruiz, then went back down and outgutted a game tarver to regain his undisputed lhvy straps at the tail end of his p4p run. ATG stuff.
Benn, Eubank, Darius M. and co., it didn't look like none of those boys were interested in crossing the pond and seeing prime Roy up close and personal imo. Collins, but honestly who cared. For those boys, it was safer to sell wolf tickets at a good distance. Calzaghe pretty much played the waiting game before he bought his first plane ticket to the US.
I thought Reggie Johnson would give him major problems but that was a 12 round shutout with 2 knockdowns. The ko's of Woods, Hill, and Griffin were highlight reel. Much respect Roy Superman.Comment
