Yes cuz when it's the other guy (kovalev) doing it you guys try to flip it and say it's Ward doing it. You guys need to stop exaggerating.....it's not a good look. And it always comes up repeatedly after a dumb commentator or promoter says it cuz fans are so dumbed down it's ridiculous that it's the same exact thing they repeat. Sad, can't even own up to a REAL loss. Like children.

But are you trying to say that just because Kovalev was fouling Ward a lot he doesn't do it in his other fights? I remember a certain Kessler that would like to disagree.

he doesn't have an intrinsically crowd pleasing style, but with the right opponent he can be in a crowd pleasing fight. the building was going nuts for the kovalev fight. bigger, hard punching guys with good tanks or good chins usually are the ones to bring a great fight out of a cautious boxer and smotherer like ward.

you really pretending that it was kovalev cheating...hmm k. not saying he did everything right but ward was the one barrelling forward right into him and initiating most of the time. ward was locking up one of kovs arms and hitting with the other. he was grabbing him behind the back and hitting with the other. he would clinch, push off and hit kov. yes kov tried his best to prevent those illegal tactics wtih illegal tactics of his own but dont pretend like ward was just standing there with his hands free and kov was grabbing him. also how many lowblows did ward land in that fight? 25? 30? more? all on accident im sureeeee. he landed like 4 in a row at one point. im sure those were body shots right? holding and hitting=inside fighting and low blows=body shots.

He fought in a variety of styles throughout his career depending on the opponent, when he utilizes the clinch to neutralize the opponent and to spoil the action it's not so pleasing to the eye and it's border line illegal in some occasions but due to him being a very smart fighter he knows how to get away with the borderline tactics and he also knows how to make them effective, you can learn a lot of tricks of the trade of pro boxing from Andre Ward.

Clinching, head, body and arm control are tactics that've been used in boxing since it's very beginnings, there is absolutely NO great fighters that haven't used these techniques in their fights, Ward being a natural inside fighter utilizes these tactics more than usual but he's not the only one.

Is it an aesthetic style? no it isn't. Do I appreciate it because he wins with it and do I try to learn from it? absolutely.

has nothing to do with being smart fighter at least in the ring. has to do with him only agreeing to fight if he knows hes the a-side and the ref/judges will let him get away with that crap. thats why hes always refused to travel even refusing to enter the super six unless all his fights were at home.

the most telling thing happened in the paul smith fight. ward was having his way easily winning, letting his hands go, not doing anything illegal jus having a good old time....then he got rocked supringsly. and what happened? immediately started clinching, bending below the waist and doing his normal routine. these guys know what they are doing. when they cant compete or are too scared to compete they go back to their safe room. their panic room.

Last time I checked the olympics that he won wasn't in Oakland, it wasn't even in America.

If you call this dirty boxing then you should start watching amateur boxing, that is a part of the game! classic pro boxing

Yes, Ward's style is very pleasing to me. He takes what he gets without taking unnecessary risks. It's hit and TRY not to get hit.

well i saw one of his olympic fights and he got bashed u and wouldnt stop clinching the entire fight and the ref let him get away with it so he still recieved favoritism just for being him. difference is the other guy was some unknown. if he had traveled to the other guys country in the pros he would have been at their mercy and a ref who enforces the rules is not good for ward.

hes clearly holding kesslers left arm with his right arm and hitting him with his left. this is his go-to move. the carlos molina. no surprise you dont see it. yes thats illegal. read the rules. classic cheating. watch this vid. hes a cheat. just because he gets away with it doesnt mean he should be allowed to.
