Sad, can't even own up to a REAL loss. Like children.

he doesn't have an intrinsically crowd pleasing style, but with the right opponent he can be in a crowd pleasing fight. the building was going nuts for the kovalev fight. bigger, hard punching guys with good tanks or good chins usually are the ones to bring a great fight out of a cautious boxer and smotherer like ward.

He fought in a variety of styles throughout his career depending on the opponent, when he utilizes the clinch to neutralize the opponent and to spoil the action it's not so pleasing to the eye and it's border line illegal in some occasions but due to him being a very smart fighter he knows how to get away with the borderline tactics and he also knows how to make them effective, you can learn a lot of tricks of the trade of pro boxing from Andre Ward.
Clinching, head, body and arm control are tactics that've been used in boxing since it's very beginnings, there is absolutely NO great fighters that haven't used these techniques in their fights, Ward being a natural inside fighter utilizes these tactics more than usual but he's not the only one.
Is it an aesthetic style? no it isn't. Do I appreciate it because he wins with it and do I try to learn from it? absolutely.

the most telling thing happened in the paul smith fight. ward was having his way easily winning, letting his hands go, not doing anything illegal jus having a good old time....then he got rocked supringsly. and what happened? immediately started clinching, bending below the waist and doing his normal routine. these guys know what they are doing. when they cant compete or are too scared to compete they go back to their safe room. their panic room.
