I think he's just getting older - he has like 360 3 rounders + 37 pro fights at about 180 rounds which by my calculation that is 1260 rounds. That is just nuts! Then multiple out rounds of sparring and add those rounds. Then look at how intensely he trains. Then he is not in a comfort zone in his home life - he is a foreigner in the States and before that Germany. Very stressful and that does have an effect.

On the other hand, imagine if he had finished Jacobs in the 4th round. Do you think the Canelo fight would ever happen? :-)

1 Jacob's is supposed to fight backing away. He's the taller man. Going forward nullifies his reach. That's basic boxing
      2. Golovkin usually uses the jab to set up other punches-- you know, Mexican style. Lol. But Golovkin landed the jab because that's all he could get not cuz he was controlling the fight.
      3. Jacob's completely wiped him rounds 6-11. He ripped him with unanswered power punches. There's no way to score a single of these rounds for golovkin. None. There's also very little reason to score 1-3 all for golovkin other than bias. Golovkin literally only won round 4 and 12 for sure. But to literally say golovkin did what he had to do is laughable.
      4. Jacob's let his hands go. Golovkin refused to engage all night and reverted back to his amateur style. Golovkin was only willing to let his hands go when he thought Jacob's was hurt in round 4
      5. I told Doug that mr Mexican style would have trouble with any fighter he couldn't neutralize with the jab. Which has been the key to his success all along. The jab was there but it didn't matter. Doug didn't listen
      6. Jacob's wasn't scared to go to the body. Golovkin was. Golovkin was completely confused for the majrority of the fight
7 Jacob's face showed more wear cuz he took more risks.
8 this fight was easier to score than ward vs Kovalev.
9 compubox is not always an accurate depiction of the fight. The story of the fight was golovkin could not cut the ring off. Settle for jabs. Didn't set up many bigger shots. Compubox is also an estimate but that's another story.

Lots of butt-stung salty cry babies showing their true selves on these most recent threads. Somebody call a 'wambulance' PLEASE!!! It's like this, watch a replay of the fight if you were smart enough to record it. While DJ kept it close, GGG clearly had the fight in control and justifiably won the bout. DJ ought to be very glad they don't have 15 round fight these days because he was gassing out quickly in the last three rounds and anyone with any sense could see that GGG was gaining more and more control of the fight. Personally, I think GGG gave too much caution in the first few rounds and should have applied more pressure sooner. And what is the deal with DJ trying to drag GGG down to the mat with him during the KD??!! GGG's jab was snapping DJ's head back in much the same way as he did to Lemieux. DJ did have a few impressive flurries here and there, but only connected about 20% of the time. I think it was a cheap move to skip the weigh in for the IBF 2nd day weigh in knowing he was contracted to fight for that belt along with the other belts, and trying to switch stances throughout the fight was a futile effort to throw GGG's timing off. After round 6 or 7, it is obvious that GGG was loosing respect for DJ's power.
GGG has Danny figured out and in a rematch, would probably drop Jacobs inside the distance. But will somebody please for the love of God get the guy a translator. If you need additional proof that GGG won this fight, look at the numbers. Numbers don't lie, nor does the face of Jacobs after the fight. He was clearly getting busted up and is lucky the fight came to an end. Collapsing into the ropes after the final bell looked weak too. Yet GGG looked relatively unscathed after the fight and ready to go for a few more rounds. I am disappointed that GGG didn't go to the body more, but should they have a rematch, I am sure GGG will do just that and get Jacobs out of there in quicker fashion.
DJ gave a fine performance in defeat, but he was just out boxed and out classed.

I don't know. I didn't think he performed that bad against Jacobs. Maybe for people who expect him to be superman. But I think he showed a good jab, and Canelo hasn't got Jacob's size and range or footwork. Let's just hope it happens before one of them gets beat.

You can tell by his body language that he knows he hasn't looked too good lately, but I think he knows his time is limited, and he's frustrated that he is still fighting Brook and Jacobs, and Canelo is making MEGABUCKS fighting Chavez Jr., and Floyd is making MEGABUCKS fighting McGregor, and he's asking himself: "WHERE'S MY MEGA-FIGHT?" It has to be frustrating!
I agree. Golovkin is definitely frustrated and he is a sportsman in the best European tradition. If Canelo gets past Jr., I think there is a good chance to see a fight in September. I think the financial split will depend, in large part, on last night's PPV numbers.
