OK, forgive my newbie question. Where did this whole thing about putting Boxing on movie channels start anyway? Putting Boxing on movie channels seems about as random as putting baseball on the Weather channel, or putting NFL on the cooking channel. I subscribe to all the channels, so Im not complaining or anything, but just curious as to why. After all, just about every other sport, even tennis, is on a sports channel or on broadcast TV. I will Watch Boxing, regardless, even if they put It on the basket weaving channel, LOL, but was just interested in how and why this all came about....thanks in advance.

Lol why do you want HBO to fail, though? They are part of boxing, and have brought us so many great fights over the decades?

I know I do. I want to see ALL networks who support boxing succeed, because that is better for the fan. The more competition there is, the more fights, and the better fights we'll get on a regular basis.

HBO literally stands for "Home Box Office" i.e home box office entertainment.

They wanted to bring people the best entertainment right in their homes.

They are a premium subscription channel, and they wanted to offer their subscribers a wide-range of entertainment options.

Boxing, being a niche sport, but also very lucrative, HBO wanted to get on board with bringing entertaining fights.

They are in the business of ENTERTAINING people.. And boxing is the most entertaining sport at its best.. If there's a basketball game, a football game, a hockey game, and then a fist-fight, people are going to gather round the fist fight 9/10.

I've stated this a long time ago that AOL/Time Warner/HBO is on its way out of business. They are about to be acquired by At&T. Chances are At&T are going to out its boxing programming altogether and just focus more on its live streaming programming and services.

the fight of the year for the last two years was on HBO.every time HBO goes head to head with showtime/pbc HBO murders them.they have several exciting fighters and the current face of boxing yet these clowns think HBO will go away.
