    Really,,,,

And didn't make a dime... remember pbc had to pay millions for the time slot and millions for the purses..

When is the next ppv blockbuster that breaks 1 mil?

Why is hbo getting out of boxing?

Why won't networks pay for boxing?

Why doesn't mainstream media cover boxing?

To think boxing is alive and well in America is nonsense.. how long have you been watching boxing like 2 years? Boxing is nothing in America compared to what it was..
Your in denial if you don't think boxing is flatlining right now..

I do agree that fights like Danny-Thurman will help in bringing back popularity, but boxing doesn't have enough of these types of fights..

Boxing would be much better if Thurman-Danny audience saw nothing buy hype promos for ggg-Jacobs 2 weeks later, same channel same time, and then they hyped canelo-Chavez jr on ppv.. if boxing could work cohesively it wouldn't have the trouble it has

Just look at the U.K. Boxing scene with huge ppv numbers and stadium shows all the time.. American boxing has none of that

$475k were the purses for the Jan. 28 card on HBO.

$600k tops for Lemiuex - Stevens with extra coming from Canadian PPV for Lemiuex not from HBO budget.

$1.2M max for Lomachenko - Sosa on April 8.

$1.5M for Crawford vs. TBA in June.

$3.775M spent total in the first 6 months of HBO boxing in purses. Extremely easy to see that HBO's 2017 boxing budget will be rock bottom low.

PPV purses come from the promoters and it looks like Wlad-Joshua will land on Showtime.

So yep... I'm right again for the zillionth time.

What is Gary Russell Jr up to these days?

The gravy train has definitely stopped in boxing it seems.

I see where he's coming from. So far the fights lined up haven't had a big licensing fee. And the whole licensing fee doesn't go towards a fighters purse. HBO paid around 300k for Ward vs. Brand and the total purses were close to a million.

What he's trying to say is so far HBO isn't on pace to spend $20 mil this year. They turned down Arum's card for under a million. Canelo owes them one HBO championship fight per year. A lot of their budget is invested in that.

They also have to hold out for GGG because he has to fight on HBO championship boxing too depending on the opponent. By May after the Canelo fight things should look much clearer

Well there it is you have a personal agenda against eastern euros, hbo is gonna make more money then in recent years when canelo ggg happens in September that alone will blow showtimes whole year out the water financially.

What's actually going on in American boxing is a free market correction..

What I mean by that is-

Boxing' glory days million dollar purses where for big fights,,, then they became frequent if you were a big enough draw like Oscar, Roy, etc hbo/showtime would pay you million+ for cherrypicks as long as it got strong ratings and lead to lucrative ppv fights. And these dudes were established stars..
But then over the past 10 years, guys that weren't proven draws were getting millions to fight cherrypicks i.e. berto. So it caused salaries to inflate, if guys could get 1.2 mil for a cherrypick, then they wanted 3,4,5 million for a big fight. The problem was these guys can't draw, haven't proven themselves in big fights, and everyone was content fighting cherrypicks for a million to protect their record in hopes of landing some phantom "multi million" payday fight. This led to horrible matchmaking, inactivity for key fighters, and a huge slide in popularity, not to mention the shrinking profits, if not losses.
The money players that actually cut checks aren't cutting big checks for no return so purses are starting to come down, unless you fight a major fight like Thurman/Garcia. American fighters if they want to get paid in a big way now have to fight tough fights, or go to the U.K.

I dont have an agenda against Eastern anything. It's just obvious your threw Usyk's name in there with Cotto/Canelo/GGG as if anybody cares about that guy. If he was on PPV next month he would draw 3 buys.
