HBO cannot compete... budget for 2017 looking at $10 million

    This is pathetic of HBO.

Spending $10 million on boxing in 2017 when they spent $120 million in 1999.

    The end is nearing quickly.

      What source do you need?

Through the first 6 months HBO will literally have spent less than $2 million on license fees.

The promoter pays for HBO 24/7 production for the PPVS and HBO doesn't spend on the PPVS.

          LMAO

Why is it pathetic for HBO.. Boxing is dead in america..

They are getting no return on their boxing investment.. They didn't mind when they could get some blockbuster ppv numbers, but those days are long gone.. Outside of canelo, their isn't a fighter that can draw worth a damn on ppv.. HBO's 2nd biggest fighter GGG can't break 250k, 15 years ago that was the numbers that HBO's 8th biggest fighter was drawing.. Oscar, shane, tito, roy, hopkins, barrera, floyd, cotto, morales, manny, lennox.. Absolutley no comparison between that star power and what we have today....

What a better investment for HBO,, investing 100 million into guys that can't draw and fights that won't happen, or invest 100 million into the next game of thrones or sopranos..

            Pretty much so.

It's so clear that PBC, SHO/CBS, and Schaefers new tourney is the present and future of boxing.

Imagine what the numbers will be if these tournaments are showcased on free TV throughout with the finals on free TV?

I wouldn't be surprised to see HUGE numbers in the coming years.

Without a source this is a silly thread. At least put in the effort to bring up the budget for all cards so far done & speculative info about the budget for future cards we know about.

But I got little doubt HBO Boxing will have a similar or smaller budget than last year cuz thats been happening since the early 00's. This is no HBO business merger thing or whatever the spin is. This is whats been going on for nearly two decade.
