EXACTLY. Chavez is coming to grips that this is NOT 5 years and he has no leverage with Canelo. Chavez has suffered humiliating losses, long stretches in inactivity and he jumped ship to Haymon and immediately PBC ran out of money. That's why his last fight was in mexico aired on Bein Sports Espanol and not PBC because Haymon because refused to pay for it. Not on Showtime because they refused to pay for it as well. He just fought in mexico for PEANUTS now is complaining about 6m plus offer? When his biggest payday in recent years was 2.5m he got to fight Fonfara. He can't fight anyone else and make 6m and has looked terrible recently could easily lose to another middle of the road fighter his next fight or miss weight and take off the entire year ect.

If he's smart he takes the money because look at how hard Jacobs had to hold out and fight in negotiations and the end of the day he and GGG likely combined make 6m for their fight. If you think cheapskate GGG can offer you more then 6m then hold out and watch it blow up in your face. Canelo has options he's the cash cow and everyone is begging to fight him and get that payday.

15 mil is more than acceptable considering their ppv history, but like i said there is nothing wrong with negotiating, but if the fight doesnt happen due to money you will have to point fingers to the fighter that claims he is no businessman... i honestly dont care how much they get paid, just get it done... i said this earlier today canelos ego is too big, he already showed a middle finger to floyd and cotto, and im afraid if ggg doesnt meet his terms the fight wont happen in 2017, i hope im wrong...

The real problem is Chavez should of NEVER turned down the offer from Arum. Haymon was whispering in his ear making promises and he fell for the trap. Backed out of big money fight with GGG (more then he will make fighting Canelo) because he wanted out of his Top Rank contract. Held out a full year refusing to ever fight again for Arum finally Haymon bought him out and his very 1st fight which was billed as a tuneup he was paid a fraction of what Arum had been paying him in previous fights and took a beating, got dropped, quit on his stool and saw mexicans turn on him throwing bottles at him in the ring. His brand took a beating that he hasn't recovered from and now he has to resort to dropping to a catch weight he likely can't perform well at and begging his arch rival and the promoter who beat his daddy to a pulp for a payday because Haymon can't get him a payday on PBC or Showtime.

Chavez is trying to cash out with one last payday but leaving Top Rank was a major mistake and Canelo knows it and will not give up any of his leverage at the negotiation table. Canelo has options and years on his side, Chavez could end up taking a beating and retiring his next fight and never getting that last payday.

You are correct not its not a flat offer, this has gone from not one ounce below 160 when ggg was mando, to full 160 10+ mil, Now it's 15+ mil and full 160... So offers are being made the fight isn't signed. Can't blame no one but ggg team at this point.

But who knows kafkoed has surprised me more than once with honest comments trolling aside...
I've seen the Canelo apologists and GGG haters twisted view on this before. They say that Canelo is in a better position now because GGG can't force a purse bid and get 45%, or whatever, of the purse.

But GGG and Loeffler would never have tried to force a purse bid. That would have been a dumb thing to do, and they aren't that ******.

All Oscar had to do was make GGG a reasonable offer .. $15 million and 160 would have been more than reasonable .. and If GGG, as the challenger, had turned it down and insisted on a purse bid, nobody would have shit on Canelo for vacating in those circumstances. I wouldn't, for sure.

If you're honest you will admit that the reason Canelo vacated had nothing to with getting himself a stronger position to bargain. His position is much weaker now than it was before. The $15 million at 160 offer proves that conclusively.

Canelo vacated because he, or his team, don't want to fight GGG till he's over the hill.

Although I believe that a Canelo v Chávez Jr would be an epic battle, I don't believe Canelo wants to go up to 165 lb, besides Canelo has got too much to lose if Chávez gives him a tough fight! With the biggest fight in boxing looming, a risky bout is not in Canelo's best interest especially going up significantly in weight vs a very motivated challenger like Chávez Jr. on 5 de Mayo weekend. That fight can wait for 2018, cash in on Canelo/ GGG then can make Chávez Jr. fight for 2018. I think taking on WBO champ Saunders would be optimum for making the mega-fight a unification bout for all the marbles in the middleweight división!
