Why is it so hard for the folks involved (and the public at large, for that matter) to stand tall and say "Andre Ward won the fight, but we want the rematch"?

That simple admission, from Duva, Kovalev, JDJ, Dan Rafael, etc, will go a long way towards the rematch that everyone wants to harp about having to happen.

Andre Ward is the champion, and should be treated as such in the negotiations.
Huh? What is this guy talking about? Ward will be the A-side in the rematch, just like before. Kovalev most likely would accept whatever is offered. Beggars can't be choosers. So what have I been missing? How much do Ward want in the rematch? It's Roc Nation who would say yes or no, anyways, not Duva.

Bottom line: Ball is in Ward's court.

When he decides to come back he must be forced to see Kov first thing, or not be licensed. Im tired of these boxers not honoring their aggreements. Disgusting

You mean the Floyd that rematched Castillo and Maidana straight away when people questioned the first fights? and he got roughed up in those too but wasn't afraid to get right back in and show he is the better fighter.

that's a first ballot HOF right there.

not rematching Kovalev won't hurt his legacy one bit, that's nonsense. Joe Calzaghe exited the sport with a debatable decision against Hopkins, Sugar Ray Leonard still gets credit for beating Hagler no matter how much crying takes place.

record books will always show a win over Kovalev. was it close? yes..just because a fight is close does that mean it's an automatic robbery? of course not.

do I want to see the rematch? yes. but am I gonna discredit Ward's entire career if it doesn't take place? hell no.

personally I had him winning 7 rounds to 5. so I didn't see any robbery. .Ward has every right to retire or do whatever the hell he pleases.
Calzaghe exited the sport by comfortably beating a washed up RJJ. He didnt simply retire after a debatable win (like Ward is threatening to do). The Hopkins fight was very close and I had Bernard winning it personally but at least Calzaghe fought on for one more fight before retiring. He probably should of had a rematch with Hopkins but I seem to recall the fight being very cagey and not much interest after the first fight. This isnt the case with Kovalev vs Ward.

Do you honestly believe beating the likes of Miranda, Abraham and Bika etc makes him a first ballot HOF'er? Really?

And yes not rematching Kovalev will definitely hurt his legacy. Simply put most people had him losing the fight.

Why are people mentioning Pacquiao to discredit ward when it comes to immediate rematches? Pacquiao waited multiple years in between rematches with JMM.
