Ward still has another 2 decades to go to start thinking about fighting at bhops age, but the fact of the matter is he dosent bring any drama to the table. Hes a boxer without ko power, dosent trash talk so people dont wanna watch his fights to see him lose, and when he does put on a boxing clinic alot of the casual fans view it as boring. I do feel bad for the guy being a gold medalist from the US and cant reap the same benifits that pac and cotto have in the country he was born and raised but thats the reality of it.

The only person Ward has to account to is himself. If he feels like he wants to go out with the Kovalev fight being the icing on his legacy that's up to him. It would be disappointing for the majority of fans who were just as surprised he won that fight as he was but his face is the only one he'll see in the mirror everyday. I was sure that he will not fight Kovalev at all.
When the contract was signed I was sure that he will pull out due to injury or some other stuff.
But I have to give him credit that did it, although he was predictably cautious and ugly in the fight.
I think he is now just trying to bring up at least some hype for the rematch.
