Ward beat Kovalev, Andre Ward is the current WBA/IBF/WBO 175lb champion, and Andre Ward won his belts in a close fight (that all three judges saw him nicking over the back half).
Why is it so hard for the folks involved (and the public at large, for that matter) to stand tall and say "Andre Ward won the fight, but we want the rematch"?
That simple admission, from Duva, Kovalev, JDJ, Dan Rafael, etc, will go a long way towards the rematch that everyone wants to harp about having to happen.
Andre Ward is the champion, and should be treated as such in the negotiations.Comment

the only problem scipio is that the negotiations were done in advance when he was the challenger. like tyson fury, he gave a rematch clause when he didn't have to.Comment

This is funny but true.....son of devil....when wart says son of god he doesn't specify which god.....people worship all kinds of gods.....son of bias judges Andre Ward defeated Kovalev on paper (judges score cards) but lost to Kovalev in the ring and it affected ward mentally to the point that he wants to retire.....hitting the canvas via a knock down has him thinking to hard....his face also looked wornLast edited by TexasCowBoy; 01-05-2017, 01:20 AM.Comment

Obviously this is more posturing to try to bilk more money he isn't worth anyway... but really... Kovalev is not missing any of this b.s. He'll make Ward feel like he ruptured his spleen within the first couple rounds. He's going to unleash some instant retirement woes on this blowhard.Comment

resume: Miranda, Bika, Abraham, Kessler, Froch, Barrera, Dawson and the boogeyman Kovalev.
that's a first ballot HOF right there.
not rematching Kovalev won't hurt his legacy one bit, that's nonsense. Joe Calzaghe exited the sport with a debatable decision against Hopkins, Sugar Ray Leonard still gets credit for beating Hagler no matter how much crying takes place.
record books will always show a win over Kovalev. was it close? yes..just because a fight is close does that mean it's an automatic robbery? of course not.
do I want to see the rematch? yes. but am I gonna discredit Ward's entire career if it doesn't take place? hell no.
personally I had him winning 7 rounds to 5. so I didn't see any robbery. .Ward has every right to retire or do whatever the hell he pleases.
Abraham - and who was his biggest win? A shot to shIt (and probably brain damaged) Jermaine Taylor...
Chad Dawson, clearly on the downside and fighting 7 pounds south of his natural weight class???
Sullivan Barrera? - c'mon man!!!! If you think this is a first ballot resume, you need to walk over to the mirror, and slap yourself in the face.Comment
