See the difference? neither Berto or Maidana were PPV stars but Maidana helped to generate 1 million PPV buys.

Canelo can make some fights like a rematch with Cotto and sell maybe 600k, but Golovkin is the only fight in which he can make close to 1 million if not more.
Maybe GGG's biggest value is as an opponent for a big name. His fans seem to see him as a Manny or Cotto -a guy who is a both a solid PPV headliner as the a side but when he is the b side helps drive sales extremely high. I don't know if he is.

Thats why I think its unfair to say he deserves so much. He can fill an arena when the tickets are priced at "boxing match" level. However, can he do that when the tickets are priced at "event" level?

I am not saying they are equal dude. Them not being equal doesn't mean Jacobs and his side has to take what is offered.

What good does that do? We got here because GGG continually fights guys who take 5-10% of the total purse for a fight. Maybe It's not just Jacobs that is getting inflated purses, perhaps its GGG as well.

Had he been in with better opponents, who presumably come at a higher price, he'd either have been getting less money or HBO would have had to increase their fee to meet both guys price.

I don't know what happens if the fight doesn't get made. I will say this- if the end result is GGG in with another bum, and the ratings drop because of this, who wins in the end?
Golovkin took step-a-side 1x, from Cotto to fight Canelo, an opponent he was never going to get in the ring in the first place.

Other than Willie Monroe, I can't think of GGG opponent (not including Ishida or Adama), who fought Golovkin for less than 20%.

      Rosado - $200,000 GGG - $350,000 -- 36%/64%
      Macklin - $300,000 GGG - $350,000 -- 46%/54%
      Stevens - $350,000 GGG - $400,000 -- 47%/53%
      Geale - $600,000 GGG - $750,000 -- 44%/56%
      Rubio - $450,000 GGG - $900,000 -- 33%/67%
      Monroe - $100,000 GGG - $1,500,000 -- 6%/94%
      Lemieux - $1,500,000 GGG -$2,000,000 -- 43%/57%
      Wade - $500,000 GGG - $2,000,000 -- 20%/80%

We'll find out next week if Danny really is just trying to hold out for highest possible dollar, or if he never intended to take the fight in the first place.

When TR offered K2 $2mill for GGG to fight Chavez, they just signed the contract. They didn't pull this Danny Jacobs stuff. Golovkin was in a comparable situation then as to Danny is now.

They don't care who he fights as long as he fights 3-4 times a year. They're content seeing him fight 3-4 bums a year. They're complaining now because he hasn't fought since September. They'd rather see him fight Heiland in December than negotiate with a better fighter in Jacobs.

The Willie Monroe Jr fight showed his team's true colors. That fight was signed & made within two weeks of his previous fight. They didn't attempt to negotiate with anyone else. When they had a chance to take a voluntary. When HBO said here's your date, just get an opponent, they fought Willie Monroe Jr & paid him $100,000. Never attempting to fight a better opponent. That fight was signed and announced two weeks after his previous fight.

Let me complete it for you.

"Jacobs wants the fight. As long as he can make a lot of money from it".

So, technically, yes, Jacobs wants the fight. But not under normal conditions. He wants to be overpaid.
Was he also telling an incomplete truth when he asked the WBA for an extension because he & Haymon were close to making a deal? A month later and still no deal. A month later and they're as far apart as they were a month ago

Fair points you have made. I think its clear Jacobs wants the fight but wants to get paid for it.

I just don't care to watch another GGG/bum fight or a Jacobs/bum fight.

Jacobs received $1.5 mil against Quillin but that was during the time Haymon was throwing away money. The purse bid split is 75%-25% in favor of GGG. Everyone involve clearly knows this fight is only worth $4 million at the most. Haymon is not going to bid $5-10 million knowing 75% will go to GGG. In order for Jacobs to get that $2-3 million, Haymon will have to bid closer to the $10 mil mark. The question K2/Loeffler needs to answer, is Team GGG willing to give up 10%-15% of there purse to accommodate Jacobs request? I don't see that happening & my gut feeling tells me Jacobs will end up giving up his secondary title & not except the 25% once it goes to a purse bid. Jacobs really brings nothing to the table as far as revenue so the market will dictate & show this fight is worth maybe $4.5 million at the most. K2 is not worried about a purse bid because there guy is getting 75%. Loeffler is hoping Haymon over bids for this fight so they don't have to spend any money while there guy gets the loin share.
Jacobs received 1.5 mil to fight Quillin, a 50-50 fight and you say because Haymon was throwing away money. Crawford just got 1.5 mil to fight a tune up against Molina. GGG gets 1.5-2 mil to fight cans. Ward, Canelo and many other HBO fighters are getting too much to fight bums. Look at some of the fights Haymon put on, Porter/Thurman Frampton/LSC Williams/Charlo Mares/LSC Jack/Bute Ortiz/Berto and so on... Look at the purses for those fights... HBO wouldn't be able to make any of those fights and expect them to b on HBO PPV. Only competitive fights they put on are fights where they pay those fighters little money. Salido, Vargas, Chocolatito are all getting payed scraps for tough match ups while everyone else is getting payed millions to fight cans

Loeffler is the problem here. When one team time after time has problem making fights with numerous different promoters and other fighters it stops being about ducking and more about the incompetence with the team. K2 has been proven liars and flip flop artists turned down fights over ridiculous weight and money demands from a fighter who doesn't have the stature to make them. They clearly rather set up easy fights for less money and fame to keep the GGG train rolling until they can cash him out. The moment GGG's contract is up or finds a way to dump K2 and get's with one of the top dog promoters/advisers just watch how quick and easy he will be making these big fights. I believe GGG if it were up to him would move weight and sacrifice concessions for more relevant fights. It's K2 that's holding him back.
