The problem with this post is you only seem to criticize negotiating when its the guy opposing GGG. GGG is going to do the same thing when he fights Canelo, negotiate for the biggest possible payday.no, I would rather see things get back to normal where mandatory defenses dont take 6 months to negotiate because the challenger expects "retirement" type money.
All paying Jacobs an absurd amount (like Haymon did for the Quillin fight) accomplishes is it makes it even that much more difficult to make the next fight, and the one after that.
Mandatory challengers with no followings are now demanding multi-million dollar purses??? GTFOH with that nonsenseComment

I agree that GGG will negotiate for the biggest possible payday against Canelo. But GGG is in a position where he can do it. GGG vs Canelo is the biggest fight in boxing. Not Canelo alone, it's Canelo vs GGG.
Jacobs is just a mandatory challenger who can't sell, he was offered almost 2 millions according to Motorpity Cobra (GGG hater) and still refused. Then said something like he wasn't ready for December, when after the Mora fight he said he would come back in December... you can't compare that situation to GGG vs Canelo. You can't accept a flat fee if you are a dancing partner in the biggest fight in boxing (or one of the three biggest fights, with estimates PPV buys over 1 million). So, since there's time for the fight (September 2017), they are negotiating the fight.
But Jacobs already made us miss the fight in December.Comment

As to paragraph 1, GGG v Jacobs is the best fight GGG can make at MW right now, not GGG v another bum.I agree that GGG will negotiate for the biggest possible payday against Canelo. But GGG is in a position where he can do it. GGG vs Canelo is the biggest fight in boxing. Not Canelo alone, it's Canelo vs GGG.

The $2 mil is $1 mil less than K2 willingly offered BJS. Not saying BJS is the same, but to expect Jacobs to start negotiating at a lower price point doesn't seem logical or rational.
Yes, I agree Jacobs is doing whatever he can to get the most he can. My problem with OP, you and others is you would never ask GGG to accept whatever Canelo offers yet you want Jacobs to take less and "be happy he is getting a GGG shot". You would never ask or expect GGG to negotiate the same way.
BS, you can't have it both ways. Either every B side gets to negotiate or they have to accept the offer they get.
Whether we agree or disagree the purse bid is the last bit of leverage Jacobs and his team have to use so they are going to use it, same as any fighter would.Comment

Blame the ****** WBA and them putting MULTIPLE Champions within the same damn division ...IMO if your going to CALL two ppl CHAMPIONS the SPLIT should be better than 75/25 which is the SAME as the #2 #3 ranked fighters.no, I would rather see things get back to normal where mandatory defenses dont take 6 months to negotiate because the challenger expects "retirement" type money.

This is getting g out of hand when GGG wants more than. $10,000,000 to fight Canelo. He fought 1 time on PPV and now he want more than Double what he's ever made. That's INSANEComment

Man, is it so hard to understand? GGG deserves more than a 10 millions flat fee for a fight that can generate around 75 million dollars PPV alone. I can't get mad at him for wanting more. For wanting maybe a 7 million guarantee and 35% of the PPV money. It's what any reasonable person would expect. The $2 mil is $1 mil less than K2 willingly offered BJS. Not saying BJS is the same, but to expect Jacobs to start negotiating at a lower price point doesn't seem logical or rational.

But BJS was offered more than Jacobs because in the UK the people is willing to pay to see Golovkin vs some top UK fighter. GGG vs Brook generated a purse of about 5 millions for each fighter. You can't compare both markets.
Jacobs sold 8k seats vs Quillin. Generated 300k ratings.
There's just one thing I agree with some of you, they should go to the purse bid and fuck it all.Comment

Canelo vs Golovkin is estimated to generate at least 1 million PPV buys, which is at least 75 million dollars ppv alone (not counting international tv fees, gate, etc). And you expect GGG to accept just 10 millions flat fee? you must be a hater.Comment

If your estimates about Golovkin are accurate and he's a PPV star, then he should easily do over 300k with Jacobs and pay the man his money.Man, is it so hard to understand? Which is it?Comment

The BIGGEST problem is the difference between an additional $500k-$1 million is GGG vs. Jacobs
Or
GGG vs. Alfonso Blanco and his 12 TOTAL fkn fights!!!!
WOW!!! Which fights SCREAMS MISMATCH and FK the fans???Comment

Maxi, I don't agree with your thinking. That said, I am not saying you are wrong or shouldn't feel that way.Man, is it so hard to understand? My point is simply if Jacobs feels he deserves more and tries to get it, its unfair to complain about that when, as your paragraph points out, you wouldn't be mad at GGG doing the same.
There in lies the problem. The only thing Jacobs has to negotiate with at this point is the purse bid.Comment
