Based on what? They said they'd consider it, they're obligated to review such requests. Groves requested a change in the purse split for the Froch rematch as well, the IBF reviewed the request then later denied it.

LOL so I hope the fight happens, but the posts will be entertaining.

From reading the article; it sounds like they really want to make this fight and are open to increasing the purse split.

Are you against them increasing the purse split in order to make the fight happen?

Are you suggesting that if Golovkin - Jacobs doesn't get made (without GGG losing the WBA trinket) it has some bearing on whether Canelo - GGG happens? I don't quite understand your reasoning.
Projected value. K2 is attempting to leverage off of Trips projected value in negotiations with GBP. That projected value includes fans/exposure he will gain through a Jacobs fight. The Jacobs fight is worth a million or two to K2 as it pertains to negotiations with GBP.

As for the split you mentioned. The split isn't as important to Jacobs as the actual purse is. If it's 70-30 and he gets 2.5M...I bet the fight gets signed.

I would be against them breaking their own rules. It would open up for corruption and ruin the organizations integrity. That would never be in boxings best interest.

If Jacobs wants a better split, he has time to negotiate the terms. That's how it Works.

where does this money come from? 2.5 to jacobs and 6 million or so to ggg? if haymon hadn't ran out of money yeah he could have given them each a billion dollars but he did run out

How did GGG get his WBA belt?

What's makes his path to getting a belt better than Jacobs?

Golovkin won the interim WBA strap by beating Milton Nunez. He then won the WBA title by beating Nilson Julio Tapia.

At this stage in boxing, it's heading for schit. I don't think the WBA making an exception to make one of the best fights of the year happen is a bad thing. I'm tired of fights not happening because money; all the while the fans miss the fights and boxing as a whole suffers.

GGG is not a business man. He could care less if the split is 70-30.

Are you saying Danny will drop out if the purse split stays the same?

Other than that, w/o knowing details of what's really going on, it's hard to speculate one way or the other who's hold things up. I'm afraid we'll be waiting to find out Monday.

that bull**** regular/interim(whatever) title that Jacobs holds..... you know, the very same bull**** title that Golovkin "defended" in his attempts to break Hopkins record...... is about to be removed, because it is bullshht

that bull**** " title " did not even exist back in Hopkins day, and it is about to be removed..... so yea, you f@gs who intend to undermine a truly great fighter and **** all over the integrity of boxing, simply because of your creepy man-love for Golovkin..... should leave the planet now.

Do you know why the WBA have both "super" and "regular" titles at MW right now?

It's because Felix Sturm's promoter paid them to introduce a super title at MW so Sturm could fight for it against a no-hope can instead of defending the existing WBA title against his mandatory challenger, GGG, who was their "interim" champion.

They then told GGG the title he was mandated to fight for had been down-graded to "regular" status.

BHop is lucky he didn't have to contend with that level of corruption and bullshit from any of the sanctioning orgs when he was unifying at MW.
