You are implying that by not fighting GGG he will get paid more for later fights. What are you basing that off of?
Seems like you are implying that a GGG fight will destroy Canelo as a fighter and will prevent him from getting good pay days later on in his career... could happen but I doubt itComment

Canelo accepted a payday of under $10 million total to face Floyd and that was a much bigger fight and Canelo was a bigger draw. If GGG sticks by his unrealistic 60/40 demand, he's effectively pricing himself out. GGG needs to seize this opportunity if he wants a shot at ppv stardom because at age 34, he only has so many prime years left, and a career high 8 figure payday plus upside is nothing to sneeze at.
GG isn't fighting the best fighter in the world, and he's effectively in a position where apart from financial gain, he's in a position where he has nothing to gain and everything to lose. By the time the fight comes around, there might be 6/7 belts on the line, almost all of which will belong to GG. So Canelo will be moving up into his domain with a shot at winning every belt in the division.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with K2 turning down a flat fee and wanting an overall percentage.
If Oscar really wants the fight he'll be willing to try and reach a compromise.
A flat fee 12 months out is laughable.Comment

Triple G should have done it like Andre Ward and fight at a smaller division for most of his career then "move up." It's a joke that Ward fought at super middleweight when he's been a light heavyweight this entire time. GGG should have started at junior middleweight, cleaned house then "move up"Comment

The fights not happening with an 80-20 split, and Canelo will suffer more from it.Comment

Granted, the ppv numbers for GGG-Lemieux were dismal. But it wasn't a complete failure considering that fight played to a sellout crowd at MSG.
Is Golovkin the B-Side? Absolutely. But he has some market value. The live gates at his recent fights prove this.
It isn't totally unreasonable for his promoter to make a counter offer.Comment

I appreciate that it's a big IF for that scenario to play out. But Canelo isn't fighting either one of those guys. He's injured, and Oscar will give him at least one safe fight to test the MW waters before fighting any of the top men.Comment

This people are NOT handling GGG career quite well. If it is indeed $10M that is on offer then take it, KO Canelo and then a rematch and PPV split would be the only way forward. No one seems to want to take a risk these days expect the boxers, Why can't managers, promoters, networks take a calculated risk? But they all expect boxers to take the short end of the money, prove themselves then that would lead to bigger money fights..Comment
