This isn't surprising at all. Neither is really a "household name" meaning casuals have no clue who they are and casuals is where the money is at. Hell enthusiasts werent even buying this fight. Obviously they are testing the waters with the heir apparent to Pacquiao and potentially lining them up for a future bout. Now THAT, plenty of people would pay to see.Comment

Honestly, what did you expect when a niche sport buts on a PPv between 2 fighters the general public have never heard of and also have a bland undercard.
Thos PPv needed to be like the stacked don King cards of the 90s..

Which one of these fighters did half a million or more PPV buys without May or Pac?
There are rumours that Canelo/Khan did 600k but the only people who believe that are GBP. Chavez Jr best numbers were what, 470k? When May and Pac did 400-500k numbers they were regarded as let downs. So let's be real here.
Serious PPV numbers, 500-1+ million buys belong to a handful of fighters and even if you want to add in Cotto and Canelo, thats still only 8 fighters in the entire history of the sport and PPV itself.
So, we come back to what typical PPV numbers are and that's what TC v Postol did.Comment

There's a reason it only did so few PPV and they only had a reported attendance of 7000 people which is really bad as well.
Have you ever attended a GGG Fight? It has a unique atmosphere, everybody is pumped and excited, when the Seven Nations Army plays the whole arena is on fire, every last seat is taken and during the fight everyone is entertained and involved.
Nobody leaves a GGG fight bored, unhappy ore not entertained.
He sold out the biggest venues all around the USA and is the only active fighter that can do it.
The so called next American Star can't even sell more PPVs in his homecountry than the guy from Kazakhstan.
You keep talking about Garbage fights when the majority of fans loves every GGG fight they attended/watched and a ton of people were disappointed and complaining about Crawford.Comment

Like I said, even if we're going to include Canelo and Cotto, that brings the tally up to about 8 names. In the entire history of the sport and 30+ years of PPV presentation, only 8 boxers, possibly put that number up to 10 if we include Leonard and maybe Hagler/Hearns/Duran have had eye popping PPV buys.
The vast majority of PPVs are what you're seeing now.Comment
