Danny "Swift" Garcia vs Keith "One Time" Thurman, in a unification fight, is a fight that will draw a massive site fee from MGM Resorts to host in Vegas (if Cotto-Alvarez was worth a $16m site fee, Thurman-Garcia should be worth $8m-$10m). And that's before you consider any of the US TV revenues (no doubt that BoxNation will want the US TV rights, the fight is likely to be a big deal in Mexico and possibly Canada; with Garcia and Thurman being the two top ratings draws for PBC, I have no doubt that their fight could draw 4m viewers on CBS/NBC/FOX/ABC, advertiser money coming forward accordingly).

reality has a way of shattering delusions.

Thurman/Garcia worth $8-10mill? Wow, just wow. And the best part is you're calling other people delusional.

@$50 per PPV, assuming no money is made elswhere, you're talking about 325k PPV buys ($3m to Broner, $3m to Garcia, $2m to pay the promoter/stage the show).

-Garcia-Broner is a fight that will draw international interest (UK, Germany/EU, Mexico and possibly Canada will have their TV rights sold.

-Garcia-Broner is a fight that will do really well at the live gate (Garcia and Broner have both showed themselves able to move tickets and carry attention, and MGM Resorts is likely opening to host the fight with a site fee)

You add in the other smaller revenue pots for the event (merch, event sponsors, etc), while also adding that Garcia-Broner doesn't have Bob Arum taking 30% of the pot for the sake of simply being there, and there's more than enough money in the pot for that not to be a "dream", especially if Vegas gets on board.

In no world should anyone close to a rising fighter give Pacquiao a 85/15 split on an event, especially with Pacquiao dried up in the US.
How many PPV as Garcia sold in his career? Put Manny in free tv and u willl see if hes dried up in the US. 3 to 5 mill is a OK payday to have a chance to beat a legend.

The problem with guys like unis whoever he fights or offer the fight u will always have something to say. DSG is dumb to have turned down the fight...

As far as options, I highly doubt it. Arum's not telling Haymon that he's taking options on his guys.

Take away the hedge fund, and Broner & Garcia make alot less than they're currently enjoying, which is still substantially less that what's being offered on the table at the moment. On top of that, it's a major opportunity for them to become stars, which at the moment they're not. Sorry.
Floyd, once on his own and handling his own affairs, has had 15 fights. The only fighters to make less than $3m to fight Floyd were Maidana, Guerrero, and Baldomir, largely due to what was percieved as the value they brought to the fight.

Danny Garcia has already sold over $1m at the gate in Barclats Center; Adrien Broner has been able to sell out in DC and does prett well at the gate in Cincinnati.

Without the hedge fund money, do you honestly think that Showtime wouldn't have put up the money to build those guys into PPV fighters on SHOPPV?

              • So what do we have here..

Arum is actually speaking the truth.

And the Floyd fans are in disbelief lmao

But man, have times changed. Arum negotiating with Showtime, talking about good conversations he had with Haymon. And his recent tone suggests that he understands he's now bartering in a position of weakness. And for the sake of keeping his ship afloat, he'll make concessions. Boxing fans have a lot to look forward to. The union of CBS/Showtime, PBC, Schafer's Ringstar and possibly the Top Rank stable could breathe new life into the sport.
Talk is talk; Arum hasn't had a single fighter on PBC, Arum hasn't had a single fight on Showtime, and Arum (outside of this talk of a PPV fight that Pacquiao has gone public with denying that he's even planning for) has yet to have a single Haymon/PBC-linked fighter on his HBO/Unimas shows. To harp about a "new tone" is a bit much, and the fact that Arum only offered Broner and Garcia, two fighters with actual interest in the boxing world, the same $3m that he offered Brandon Rios to fight Pacquiao off of a loss puts the breaks on that view.

Danny Garcia is the Puerto Rican version of Oscar De La Hoya, sans the gold medal and with more inner-city toughness.

If you feel so insecure about your closet ****phobia (possible ****sexual tendencies) to not acknowledge demographic realities (Garcia being able to draw women/female fans to his fights), that's your issue.

                    • Lol, Kell Brook moving up two weight divisions to fight the best middleweight, while Broner and Garcia turn down small faded Pac...there is no logic in boxing. I can only assume Haymon advised them against the fight, or perhaps its only some fighters whom strive for greatness, and some fighter are just content.

And 3-4 mill is not low you bunch of weirdos, he'd be hard pressed to make much more fighting Floyd.
