Dibella & Malignaggi Talk Golovkin vs. Brook Fight
July 9, 2016:
By Chris Williams
“Size MATTERS. Weight MATTERS. Love both , but not vs. each other. It’s a friggin joke,” said Dibella on his Twitter. “Mismatch, totally, on size!! No, bad day for anyone paying or who cares about fair, safe competition. PPV FORMULA: good small man takes mismatch fight w/ NO chance to win for big $$. Loses, in ONLY possible result, but not his stock. STINKS!! I’ve been begging for very highly rated Anvil Khurtsidze to be given the shot. Would have been a good one.”

Demetrius Andrade: Lara a Last Resort, I’d Fight Jack CulcayI hate Golovkin/Brook and I would love Andrade/Lara, the ball is in Lara's court to make the Andrade fight. Artie Peullo is trying to make the fight working with Showtime.
As for HBO blocking Golovkin/Lara, I don't believe it. I think they would love it b/c they believe Golovkin would beat Lara badly (just based on how Lara looked vs Vanes) and they could use that fight to compare/build the Canelo fight.
I think Showtime is the problem. Espinoza has been very vocal lately about Golovkin, giving multiple interviews on how he wants to do a joint network deal for Golovkin/Jacobs. It's my belief that Showtime/Espinoza simply don't want to give HBO a big name opponent for Golovkin.

Demetrius Andrade wants to have a world title around his waist before he goes on to fight the winner of a bout between World Boxing Council titleholder Jermell Charlo and Charles Hatley.
That leaves a short list of potential foes. One name at the bottom of the list is World Boxing Association beltholder Erislandy Lara.
“Don’t get me wrong. Lara is an interesting fight because he also is slick. But that last fight against Vanes Martirosyan, he tried to stay in the pocket a little bit, he felt comfortable with somebody he’s already fought before, which I don’t know if he’ll do that with somebody like me,” Andrade told BoxingScene.com late last month.
“I don’t know. If that’s the last resort, than yeah, I’m going to take the fight,” he said.
But it otherwise doesn’t interest him as much.
“He won’t engage or try and make the fight entertaining, especially if it’s coming into my favor,” Andrade explained. “He’s just going to survive, try to run, try to do the little pitty-pat counter punches. I’m not about that right now. I’m about sitting in there, doing what I need to do best, and letting the fans know that I’m willing to get in there with anybody and put on a show and make ends meet.”
Interestingly, while Andrade doesn’t want the WBA “super” titleholder in Lara, he would be OK with facing the secondary titleholder, Jack Culcay, who holds the sanctioning body’s “regular" belt. Andrade doesn’t know much about Culcay...
Andrade’s promoter has been in talks with Culcay’s camp about the fight and will soon meet with Showtime Sports executive Stephen Espinoza about the bout, according to Mitch Abramson of ******.com."

You're referring to the Bscene story where he said he preferred Culcay over Lara. But his promoter's trying to make the Lara fight.
From ESPN.com:
"I’m going to ask Stephen if he is interested in doing a fight between Demetrius and (world titleholder) Erislandy Lara," Pelullo told ESPN.com. "Lara and him would be a great fight and the winner of Lara and Andrade could then fight the winner of (Jermell) Charlo and (Charles) Hatley in a unification fight, which would be even bigger than just Demetrius fighting Charlo for his title.
"Demetrius wants a title fight next and I want to get it for him, so this was my thought. Now I have to see if it’s something we can do."Comment

Lol, I don't think Saunders is an 1/10 the skilled, slick boxer that Lara is, and if Canelo could make the Lara fight a close one, I'm sure he'll have an easier time landing on a bigger and slower target.
Would love to watch it, Canelo stops Saunders easy time.
Don't compare a HoF Cotto with the weakest champ @160.Comment

who the hell would want to see Lara running all night from Golovkin, that would be a very boring fight, I have tried to watch his fights and they are all the same, he should be running marathons not boxing, my guess is he would win and even be faster than Kenyans, no wonder he has no following and not everyone wants to fight him, is a high running paste low rewards marathon, lol!Comment

So Canelo's next fight is @ JMW, with BJS fighting on the undercard @ MW. People are thinking that Canelo fights Saunders next, assuming both men win there respective eminent fights. Then if he wins against Saunders, Canelo faces Golovkin @ MW, after dropping his belt to avoid him-maintaining that he's not a MW. I'll believe it when I see it.Comment
